SA Post Office Strike

I read about this app here and installed it about two weeks ago
Entered three international tracking numbers and it didn't recognize any of them
They are picked up on other tracking sites though
Last week, I got a notification that it picked up one them
Last update says - sent to customs
Guess I'll just have to wait now.......
 
SA Post Office and SA Customs are beyond incompetent, I have a number of outstanding parcels from China.

Had the most recent one sent to the UK to be collected by someone there and brought back to SA.

Quick delivery, one week, no customs charges. Normal airmail.

Don't let anyone tell you that the problem is with the Chinese Post Office, it is all here.
 
Only works if SAPO scans the international tracking number into their system.

I use it myself, but updates stopped at HK border...

Yeah i guess it depends on the guys doing their work on our side. Some parcels track all the way to post office, some stop at the international hand over
 
Pisses me off that something so basic/ancient system can be run into the ground by these retards.

Privatise it.
 
Just use a app like TrackChecker Mobile. Insert yhe tracking number and a discription if you want and the app will recognise all the postal services which will be used as well as all of thr courier companies.

You will recieve a notification for each and every little movement of your packages untill it reaches your door or local post office.

A couple of my parcels have been sitting at customs for almost two months now. Both are "Priority Mail" from the US. Not that that means much nowadays.

It's only priority while controlled on their side. Keep that in mind next time when you have to choose shipping options.

If its stuck at customs for more than 2 weeks they normally want a invoice so they can calculate tax.
Send an email to [email protected] with your tracking number and ask why it hasent moved and hopefully they can assist. The christmas period has been really slow though my one package was at customs for 25 days.
 
I received 4 items today. Actually it was a bundle that my brother says the postman delivered (he was calling at the gate to drop off) - normally I expect a card to collect from the post office, the volume was bigger that a 1L carton of milk. Purchased 10 Oct & 10 Nov with 2 items of 10 Oct and a dozen more from 10 Nov still outstanding.

You're preaching to the choir. Just pointing out the severity of the current "backlog" issues.

As well, choosing a "lesser" shipping option would mean, most probably, no tracking whatsoever. Better a late parcel than possibly none at all.

I have not heard back in a week. But we can all mail these people.
 
My last BangGood parcel took 2 days from China to my desk in Sandton, but I suppose that's what $23 shipping gets you :)
