Two points came to mind when reading that

1) Is it bandwidth related?
2) Money making opp!

SA Tourism websites "Useless"

Not a very constructive criticism.
No indication of;
what is wrong,
how to correct it,
who were we compared with.
If one has a view about such an important issue, why not educate the rest of us folks in the Tourism Industry and afford us the opportunity to improve our sites.
Give us the opportunity to see (or buy) your research and findings,

No surprise there.... the South African Internet Scene is a wasteland with only a few towers here and there (this being one of them ).
