SA will not meet digital TV deadline: study

Ovum says that South Africa will not achieve the ITU-mandated 2015 deadline to switch off their analog terrestrial TV signals.

Interesting seeing what the terrestrial digital rollout might look like. Am now watching free-to-air terrestrial digital - SABC, eTV, Soweto, etc. (Not the analog broadcasts.) Reception from a 4 bowtie reflector UHF antenna. I think Senetech is broadcasting trials.

Have been watching for about two months. Seems to me that the resolution has increased. Also noticed for the first time a few ads broadcast on the eNCA channel, which ATM more or less mirrors eTV (except for ads). There are other DTT channels that are encrypted - such as Channel O.

Would be interesting to know what changes you've noticed, as I gather you have watched longer than me.

Exactly. Can be made very easily. I bought my bowtie (UHF) a number of years ago from Makro but haven't seen such antennas in any store recently. Keep in mind you must have a receiver capable of decoding the DVB-T2 signal. My Samsung is capable of such.
