SA WoW Launched

Be one of the first to start playing on PlaySA's World of Warcraft Server.

To start:

1. Create an account at: [mod note: link removed due to possible copyright issues. Please PM the forumite in question for the details until such time as we are sure this kind of service is not illegal.]

2. Make sure you have WoW client ver1.8

3. Remember to set your RealmList to: playsa.servegame.com

Hi,

To answer your question, yes we are hosting an WoW Emulator. You might ask why is PlaySA's WoW server any different from the other WoW emu's. Well, we strive to offer the South African WoW player a service that the player and we can be proud of. Where the players will be helped by GM's that are experienced and professional. And ultimately make PlaySA's WoW server Proudly South African.
 
i gonna try, jus 4 fun, only in a while tho, busy downlaoding the updates,

so... i am using the WOW US copy, i must change the realmlist to connect to playsa.servegame.com
and then when i have updated i must just login to the account i made on the site?
am i right?
 
Hi All

The reason why you could not connect to the website was because Telkom had connectivity problems in our area.

But the issue has been resolved and you can connect now.

No unfortunately not yet. But we are working on it. We have just started to register a domain and are in the process of creating our own IRC server.

No it is not, reason being: Blizzard does not care about South African servers, becuase they hardly make any money out of SA users. I have been confronted by this, but i do understand you are trying to do your job, and i respect you. But it isn't illegal no.

(iii) host, provide or develop matchmaking services for the Game or intercept, emulate or redirect the communication protocols used by Licensor in any way, including, without limitation, through protocol emulation, tunneling, packet sniffing, modifying or adding components to the Game, use of a utility program or any other techniques now known or hereafter developed, for any purpose, including, but not limited to, unauthorized network play over the Internet, network play utilizing commercial or non-commercial gaming networks or as part of content aggregation networks;

The question is, if this is binding to South Africa.

sont really understand what you mean, but this South African, and no international player play...

Tildjian, please understand I am not trying to be difficult. I understand the irritations we South Africans have to suffer when it comes to gaming. Especially if local services of international games aren't amped like they are overseas. I just have to keep things legal to preserve the forum's reputation.

My personal opinion is go for it, but the forum's credibility needs to be protected. I think as things stand now, people can PM you for the link. I will sleep on this for a day or two. Happy gaming all!

The Game is protected by the copyright laws of the United States, international copyright treaties and conventions, and other laws. All rights are reserved..

@Tildjian: It's irrevalent what country you in since Blizzard own the copyright to World of Warcraft anywhere in the world.

Tildjian ... who is yet another myadls.co.za "expert" who knows about the law and copyrights and is assured by his pet hamster that it is all okay to offer a emulator based WOW service :).

Maybe I should drop Blizzard an email thanking them for finally offering a WOW service in South Africa ;).

Yes sure, you can do that, but keep in mind we are not part of Blizzard...

But go ahead, its actually a favour they are doing to allow free servers in South Africa.
