SABC close to collapse

After they chopped F1, rugby and other audience securing programs, but kept demanding license fees, let them go the way of General Motors in the USA - but WITHOUT the R2b bail-out they now request.
 
I remember reading somewhere that license fees make up something like 2% of their operational budget.....

So if they're collapsing, getting the license money from EVERYONE will not solve the problem.

The bigger reason why Multichoice should lower their prices.

Sorry if this dont make sense, Im on a lot of medication at the moment to get my flu away.

But if SABC had to collapse, im sure multichoice would come up with some lower end package for the people that only had SABC.

But i doubt SABC will close. Its partially owned by the government. The government will get the funds from somewhere.

Or they can just clear their IT room. They have a crap load of money in equipment that is stored away
 
I used to watch 'Drive Time' every Sunday, and one day that disappeared !!!
 
SABC, SAA, Eskom, etc. Say what you want .. its just another example of BEE failing. People not qualified to run their own lives, never mind huge corporations.
 
makes me wonder whats happening with all the tv license money...

also one thing I have always wondered, if I'm paying multichoice for TV ( of which SABC is included) shouldn't my tv license be included since I'm sure Multichoice has to pay for broadcasting rights

Oh, that's clever. They create pores to haemorrhage from, then cry foul for a bail-out.

No. Let them die. Them them be bought out by an independant company as a non-gov-funded entity, then watch it achieve more off less reserves.

I won't miss it...I never watch any of their channels

Maybe if they were privatised they would improve their offering

I DON'T pay my TV licence and I never will. I was clever enough to never put myself on their tv licencing system so I never get harassed for non-payment. If I need to buy a TV I just buy a second hand one off the gumtree, no tv licence required.
 
How does this affect 2010? Anyone have any info on that? Surely FIFA will not allow a country with no official broadcaster to host the tournament? Can they lean on Supersport entirely to facilitate all broadcasts of all matches?

never watch sabc, biggest bunch of k@k on tv. SA want to host the world cup but they cant even keep sabc alive. International ppl will have to watch the matches on youtube which will be uploaded by some poephol with a cellphone.
 
I've watched SABC a few times, there is a fair bit of socialist/communist propaganda on those channels. It is rather disturbing. We are building a nation of people that are tolerant of communism, and we all know how well communist states turn out. I mean just look at Russia...uh ...I mean just look at Cuba...oh... uh... how about China, they build stadiums and all sorts of amazing thin -what?...oh yeah but human rights aren't THAT important are they?...I mean... nevermind.

No public broadcaster in SA
Becuase we pay for TV Licence.

TV Lic have to crap !!!

Why I buy a TV need "LICENCE"? And it is by "LAW"? Why?
Can I use my TV to play TV game only, or watching DVD moive, video?
I have no freedom to do that? Why?

What happen if the LAW say you should have to buy a licence before you buy food? walk on the street? EVEN Breathing? Horrible............... What do you feel?

We don't need a pay TV complusory ....................

BYE SABC.........................forever.
