SABC praised by ICASA

The retards are saying the idiots are doing a good job. That fills me with hope :(

According to the reports the public broadcaster further met and exceeded the required South African quotas although there were isolated instances where non-compliance was detected - in particular SABC 3.

How odd. Of all the channels, SABC3 is the only one remotely palatable to those of us who like American, European and more Western minded programming on the terestrial service. If ICASA is insinuating that it is still not meeting local content (I assume this is what they refer to) then DSTV really is becoming the sole provider of good overseas content, should SABC3 comply. Local TV isn't lekker for me. At least not at the moment. It is crappy at the moment!

“The SABC should use the regional television services SABC 4 and SABC 5 as vehicles to cater extensively for these needs once these two regional television services are on air,” said ICASA.
OMG there are more on the way!

Time for a pay rise again? Those 13th and 14th cheques don't last a long as they used to.

Lets see, the ONLY governmint sponsored and citizenry forced sponsored broadcasting organisation has been patted on the back.

WOW. That's like me congratulating my only surviving goldfish for surviving even though I never had more than one.

It must really be stressful finding positive things to say about government controlled institutions these days for ICASA to praise (somewhat) the SABC for doing was it was mandated to do in the first place. Perhaps the praise would have more weight if South Africa had more than one licensed public broadcaster?

ICASA was complimentary towards the SABC, saying that despite challenges SABC1 and 2 complied with all the regulations on infomercials, advertising and sponsorships. SABC 3 however did not comply with the requirements on advertising in certain instances.

According to the reports the public broadcaster further met and exceeded the required South African quotas although there were isolated instances where non-compliance was detected - in particular SABC 3.
Now the really interesting part of this is that we already know from previous reports that SABC 3 is the only channel that is actually running at a profit and has no problem with gaining advertising revenue. In fact, wasn't this the general statement from the SABC themselves when trying to justify to ICASA why the newly licensed PayTV operators must be forced to carry SABC content?

This honestly smacks of something underhanded like the SABC sponsoring an awards National ceremony where 95% of the nominees are linked to the SABC in some form or another yet proudly proclaiming the winners are all best in their class across all competitors in the industry.

Note to government officials, we may be frustrated from the lack of power and tired of excuses and incompetent policies but it doesn't make us blind to what's going on around us. You're only fooling yourselves.

The SABC is the best national broadcaster in SA - of course the local content figures have been due for review for quite a while, bet they were both hoping no one would spot it
