https causes problems. It did with me at least. I actually set mine up from scratch without https after I tried it the first time. It just continually gave me troubles...

Indeed. You can use https on SAB, but use the normal http port in your CP settings. This worked for me.

I found that to happen with the brrip quality profile, never had a problem with 1080p and 720p profiles.
 
A very stupid question I am sure but some assistance would be appreciated.

Anyone know if it's possible to install SABNZBD, Sickbeard and Couchpotato on my HTPC and then use my laptop on the local network to manage and control these all. Currently they're setup on my laptop and content is then moved from my laptop to the HTPC wirelessly. I'd prefer to set it up directly on the Windows 7 HTPC, and the be able to fully control all of them from my laptop instead. I don't want external access though - only through the local network.

And if I do this, will I still have complete control, or are there limitations? And can I open an NZB file on the laptop and have it sent automatically to the remote machine's SABNZBD? Also, I don't suppose there's any way to copy my current setup over to the new machine without having to reinstall and configure everything, is there? I'm hoping I can simply copy some config files over and point Sickbeard and Couchpotato to the new directories...

This is the best way to do it. You would just install everything exactly like you did on your laptop but then instead of going to http://localhost:8081, etc. you just put the IP in, like http://192.168.0.5:8081.

Everything is controlled through the browser so functionality-wise there is no difference.
 
Brilliant stuff. I edited the post there. I don't suppose there's any way to copy the existing installation across, is there? Or do I need to reconfigure everything from scratch?

It's pretty easy to just move it over although I'm not sure exactly what folders are needed to do this on the Windows versions as I've only ever used the Linux versions. I'm sure Google would help with this.
 
Found a few references but I've decided to just do a fresh install instead. Thanks for your help...

you can just copy over the config files, for sickbeard just copy the whole folder, you will have to redo the location of the shows though. For CP and SAB you can install them, then kill the process, copy over the config files and restart the service. I've done it before and it works 100%

Thanks for that, but wasn't sure which files to copy, so resorted to a completely fresh install and removed it from my system. It appears to be working 100% now. My only issue now is with Couchpotato. I've automated it to work with my Trakt watchlist so that I can watch a trailer in XBMC (Apple or any of the others) and simply select to add to Trakt. Couchpotato then syncs with Trakt and adds it to the search queue. Also allows me to add a movie from my phone while browsing IMDB and similar sites, even remotely. Great, BUT:

The problem is that I have 87 movies in there which I want to download, and a 100gig capped account, so I've set the default priority to be paused. Problem is the paused action doesn't appear to work all that well in SAB. If a TV show (high priority) finishes downloading, SAB unpauses the next item in the queue and begins to download it. There's no stop option. Now I can hit the pause button to pause all downloads, but that means my TV shows won't download. And when I restart the machine, it auto-resumes them all in any case.

Not sure what the solution to this is...

Perhaps, but my line is about to be upgraded by Telkom and I'm waiting to hear from them. It could land up costing a small fortune in comparison to what I'm paying now, and I'm just not sure I want to be paying that much...

Weird, is "Pause Downloading During Post-Processing" enabled? That might be the cause, Otherwise I'd suggest posting on the sabnzbd forums, they are very helpful there.

No, it's disabled. I've reinstalled it once again as I had an issue. I forgot that I had to put my credentials into the post process file, and was a bit stumped by the errors when the files refused to process after download. In a moment of frustration I deleted everything, reinstalled, and ran CouchPotato again. I'll know in 20 minutes if that worked, otherwise I'll have to head off to their forums...
 
I used CP to process my existing movies. It generated all the XBMC metadata for me, but I've noticed that a number of nfo files don't have the movie rating included. Is there any way to make it reprocess and add the missing data? I tried a full library refresh, but it just ignores files that haven't changed. Google isn't being particularly helpful either.

You could search the folder for all .nfos and delete them, then let XBMC do the scraping. I much prefer to let XBMC do the scraping than complicating it with third party apps. I let the downloaders do the downloading and the media centres manage the media and metadata it requires.

One thing you might want to try in XBMC is to remove the folder from the database, clean it, then re-add the folder. Then in scraper settings, change the default rating from TVDB to IMDB (which I think is better in any case) and refresh the path. There is also an addon in the XBMC addons programs section (iirc) that will auto-update your ratings for you at a set interval, or on demand. Thanks. The plugin looks useful. Will give that a go first. So far I'm quite happy with what SB and CP have scraped.
 
Very useful if you're securing new releases with low votes at the time of scraping...
