SABNZBD, Sickbeard & Couchpotato Guide.

Don't know what I did wrong, but I can't connect.

Should the SABnzb address not be localhost:8081 and not 8080?

Try the IP address rather than localhost, and make sure the ports are correct. Try changing the SAB port...

Great, that part is done. Under notifications, I make use of Plex. I don't know what the IP should be. If I make it static, should it be a public IP? I dont know what the heck over here, should it be my PC IP?

Which part is done?

It should be the local network IP of the machine Plex is running on, not a public facing IP address. And yes, assign your Plex device a static IP either in your router or in the operating system of the machine Plex is running on. I prefer to do so on the router itself...

+ 1 to DJ's response.

If you want to have a stable setup rather assign all your PCs with static IPs. Once doing this you will have these addresses which you can enter in to the Sickbeard config.

So I am starting from scratch and yes, I am very noob at this.

I just installed SABNZBD.

Which host should I use? (The DNS name of what server?)

Port 119 is apparently the default port which i will be using.

Don't someone rather want to teamview into my machine and do this for me? :D

Oh and my IP is static now.

I can help you out over TeamViewer and Skype if you like? As long as it's a Windows install.

PM me...

Look in the OP under the "Servers" section.

I think you're confusing things a little, you need a usenet provider for the servers section. If you have an IS, MWEB or Afrihost ISP account you can use their news servers for this, although it is limited and sometimes slow.

Best way to do this is by doing it yourself otherwise if something breaks or changes you're going to be completely lost.

Just take it one step at a time and if you get stuck come and ask here.

Thanks, I have a Telkom account.

Thanks, I have a Telkom account.

First thing's first:

Do you have the SAIX news server details? Do they even still have a new server?
Do you have a news search provider and their details?

Telkom: news.saix.net
Port:119

I do not have a news search provider. Which ones do you guys use?

I use a few of the built-in providers on Sickbeard and then I have a paid account at https://newztown.co.za/ - their free account will limit you to 100 searches and 10 grabs per day. So 10 downloads, effectively.

Here's my Sickbeard list:

Newztown
Usenet Crawler
NZBID.org
Womble's Index
Sickbeard Index

in that order

Looking at my grab history, I get my stuff from Newztown and Usenet Crawler.

I'd recommend getting logins and APIs for each before going any further...

Just use those details for now.

Just enter as follows:

Host: news.saix.net
Port: 119
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Connections: 5 (I'm not sure about max connections for SAIX news server)
Retention Time: 10 (This is also a guess, but generally these free servers don't have high retentions)
Timeout: 120
SSL: No
Backup Server: No
Optional: No

Let's instead of the TeamViewer thing, rather walk you through it via this thread so that others can get the benefit as well.

I too was a Usenet noob just a few months ago - I've now gone through about a dozen installs of Sickbeard, SABNZBD, CouchPotato, and Headphones...

Lost again.

My IP is 10.0.0.5 for my PC, and for Plex.

You mean your PC is running the Plex media server, and that's what you're trying to connect to?

I'm not a Plex expert - does it default to port 32400? Have you tried to change it?

Are you sure Plex is running when you're running the tests?

Would have been much easier of you'd picked XBMC, especially seeing as you appear to be running off a single machine. There's no real need for a server, serving content to the same machine imo.

John might disagree, but I'd say chuck XBMC Gotham Beta on there...

For the client ip/port, you forgot the port number.
This is an annoying feature anyway. I tried it when I first setup everything and don't want to to know when stuff is snatched/downloaded/etc.. Will drive you nuts.

Does XBMC support remote commands in Sickbeard? That is what he is attempting to do there it appears.
