SABNZBD, Sickbeard & Couchpotato Guide.

I thought that I didn't need login details with some stuff?

Some you do, some you don't. All those in the log need login credentials. Usenet-crawler you can create an account online for free, the other two I think are invite-only.

Have you got a Newztown account yet?

You need logins for these services. Where's newztown as well, and John offered you an NZBSA invite as well.

You need a decent search provider, and you need the API for each. You have to configure these in Sickbeard's search settings. It needs to know where it must search for stuff, and it needs the custom API to talk to that service - each API is generated based on your login credentials to that particular search site...

That means that it's talking to SABNZBD just fine.

But think of it like this:

Sickbeard does the searching and organisation for you. It must know where to search, and you must have a valid login to use that service. Most are free - just create an account, go to the account settings, and copy the API for that search service into Sickbeard's search provider settings (custom search settings).

SABNZBD is the downloader. It talks to your usenet service and downloads it from there. It then tells Sickbeard that it downloaded it, and then Sickbeard processes it into the correct folder structure and saves it in the correct location, and then updates your media server to reflect the new content...

That's not the right section, those are you SAB connection settings. You need to be in the Search Providers section. For now you could just use Sickbeard Index and Womble's Index, those should find most of the stuff.

Just beneath the pic John posted is a custom search provider section. You give it a name, add the url for that site, and add the API that the site generates for you. Then click save. Now Sickbeard knows to use that search provider. But it doesn't know when. So go to priorities further up the page, and drag that provider tow wherever you like. I have newztown first, then usenet crawler, then sickbeard's index. Works perfectly for me that way.

Don't forget to save after each step...

I don't have that SabtoSickbeard.exe option in my script dropdown list.

Ok i copied the files into the scripts folder and I see it now. Tried another search through Sick Beard and I still get the same error.

I think you're over doing it. There is no need to copy stuff to xyz folders or anything.
I will take screenies of my setup in the AM and you can just copy. May need a reminder.

Ok, so back to this again...

My categories are/were set up as per screenies in this thread.

Still getting this:

Sab2sickbeard is not by series where it belongs

Seems to be in a category named tv. Do you use tv or series for your series category?

Also did you rename and edit the scripts configuration file?

I changed it now.

Regarding the script, are youtalking about this:
[SickBeard]
host=localhost
port=8081
username=
password=
web_root=
ssl=0

?

Yep that one. Check your ports are right if you turned on ssl as well

My ports are correct and ssl is not enabled...I think I should give up on this task.

The first time I set it up I made one tiny mistake. I went through the entire guide step by step to find it. 2nd time took me about 30 minutes. 3rd time about 10.

Its a learning curve that quickly gets easier.

OK its working :D Thanks. I just hope that I don't have to re-install my machine again 1 day.
