Sainet

Lol - no, but their subscribers might... and not necessarily related to using up all your cap. But I for one don't think anyone should work on weekends let alone Sunday.... not religion, just my opinion.
At least those who do should still get 2 days a week to themselves.

Sainet does not seem to have a 24hr tech support number - only until 8PM weekdays, 12noon on Saturdays and nothing on Sundays? That is a bit worrying - what do you do when running into problems over the weekend?

I've never had problems - ever. If you do want 24/7 support, you are welcome to pay more for some other ISP. ;)

My little "problem" I had a few posts back, turned out not to be a problem at all. Was never flexi-billed. :D

The internet is 24/7 so should your ISP also not be?
Or is this a african thing? Just want money and a nice office job

2 of the top ISP's in South Africa run a full 24/7 call center being:
Axxess - www.axxess.co.za
WebAfrica - www.webafrica.co.za

But then again. You get what you pay for ;)

Exactly, and most technical people don't need help from their ISP. Your problems will almost always be with Telkom for the line or IS/SAIX bandwidth. Probably not much help phoning them if you are over the basics.

Your car is also a 24/7 thing, But I don’t see 24/7 repair shops etc etc ;)

Exactly. You pay more for Axxess & WA to get the same amount of GB at Sainet. What you are paying for, is the added support.

I don’t mind if I don’t get Supreme support if they in turn give me more GB for less $$$. :)

Ok the 2 Sainet reps from England have spoken. It's time for the rugby, we will show you :D

Hope I don't have to come back here and apologize after this last comment

Don't understand the comparison between a car and an internet connection - anyway, I do understand the 'get what you pay for' idea, but would still be reassuring knowing there is someone to assist you over weekends. An ISP problem on a Saturday afternoon can mean an almost 48 hour downtime which is bad news for my business.

The car thing...
With any product/entity/service that is a 24/7 thing, it does not mean you should get 24/7 service/support with that thing. Although there will always be someone out there willing to provide that 24/7 service for you at a fee.

In this case, what can go wrong with your internet connection? All my problems I've had thus far were related to:
- Local DSLAM failing (2x). Telkom
- Local only account died on me. IS messed up my account Beyond repair. I had to contact my ISP here (WA). But guess what. They still had to log the fault with IS and the Tech people only work normal business hours.

Not once did an ISP fault cause my Internet to go bye-bye. And in any case, I have my prepaid WA account on standby as a fallback should anything nasty happen.

So there you go. Take the cheapest ISP you can lay your hands on. Then just get a prepaid account as a backup (with Elite 24/7 support).

Why pay more when you could get it for less?

No - I do get the concept - just that when my car breaks-down, I borrow the wife's or catch a lift. I do not have a spare ADSL account in the garage and do not need my car 24/7. I know it is usually Telkom, but from experience I have learned - I have had 4 or 5 downtimes in the past year. 3 of them was Telkom's fault (changing/porting ADSL tel no's) and was sorted by my ISP (Imaginet). The other times the tech support helped me to detect it was a hardware problem - router reset - fixed. that is why I feel more relaxed knowing they are only a call away.

Nuff said - get what you pay for - I get it... :D

I have a spare account in the garage at all times. The WA prepaid account is nice because the account never expires. So should (almost) anything happen, I'm covered. :)
