Telkom Wholesale Services is pleased to announce the launch of the “SAIX- Lite” ADSL Usage offering as an addition to the current Shaped, Unshaped and Local-only product portfolio.

The “SAIX- Lite” ADSL Usage offering will be launched on November 1, 2010.

This alternative enhancement gives Internet Service Providers (ISPs) the opportunity to provide differentiated products to their respective end-subscribers.

“SAIX- Lite” will be offered at competitive rates to enable ISPs to compete against numerous uncapped offerings in the market today.

Telkom Wholesale Services identified a market opportunity to offer a more competitive and affordable usage offering based on a demand analysis completed earlier this year.

For further information and pricing, please contact me.

Hooray, perhaps we can drop those terrible IS accounts to become more competitive with Mweb.

Is this for real? Source?

And applies to wholesalers/resellers? or end-users?

Applies to wholesalers. Source was directly from one of our wholesale managers at Telkom. Email is sitting in my inbox, have phoned and confirmed. They dont wanna tell us about pricing yet though. Wholesalers will pass it onto consumers shortly.

Heard some mention of things like after-hour bandwidth.. not sure if this is included in this announcement

So they send of a flyer earlier this year saying that you don't need uncapped and now they are releasing it.:wtf:If it's properly provisioned and it's decently priced it may be good competition for MWEB.

if its priced in the same region as mweb it should be a decent product.

SAIX route of SAT3 for international Bandwidth. SAT3 wont handle uncapped as it is limited. My Best guess is that telkom will be releasing these accounts when EASSy is full operational and there uncapped traffic will be routed via that, which we have no idea how the quality is.

Interesting. Deserves some cautious optimism. Not too sure about the "lite" part though...doesn't that usually mean heavily shaped in practice?

Didn't saix say uncapped is not happening? Change of heart?

Well it doesnt say uncapped, just that it'll compete with uncapped. In telkom lingo that means it'll be a cap large enough to cater for the "average" user.

So maybe cheap accounts ranging from 10 to 20 gigs.

Still a very exciting development - we wait and hope.

Good news i say lets wait and see. reason why i have done 45 gig int on my 9 gig acc :-)

Maybe this is why my telkom account is acting so bforkd. I wonder if telkom is going to offer uncapped packages.

Just noticed that now, it doesn't say uncapped. But cheaper SAIX bandwidth is welcome :)

Hmmm, maybe a heavily shaped package where you pay real cheap rates per GB...its called "SAIX-Lite"....anything internet with "Lite" in the name does not sound promising TBH.

Actually it's the word Telkom that scares me more.
