A company that I had an interview with said I should make about R18 300 before deductions. Any idea what salary I will be taking home? 24 year old if that is relevant.

This Old Mutual Tax Calculator works well to determine your tax deductions.

Other than that, you would have to ask what deductions there are from their side, and the work from that.

Also consider if there is a 13th cheque in your contract or not.

Good luck!

you can also ask them to see a mock up of the pay slip so you have a decent idea of what is going on.

Ask for a mock salary slip prior to signing the contract...

Companies can structure things differently.

Should make? Get a definite answer on what your CTC will be. Also ask for any other deductions that they might include like medical aid.

Without any additional deductions other than PAYE, UIF, you are looking at about R15700

Tax: ~ R 2385
UIF: ~ R 148

Excluding any Company related deductions towards a pension, parking etc, you will take home about R 15 700 as werfie said..
