Who to vote for next year?

Leaning toward Agang SA but open to other suggestions.

Your thoughts?

For something different the Libertarian party just ask Paul for info.

Agang, ANC, DA are all ideologically cut from the same cloth....

The answer to your question is also still the same: taking our political landscape into account, voting for anyone but the DA paints you as an abject moron, in spite of the few legitimate complaints that can be levelled against them.

I think given the way our political landscape is heading...

Any vote for a party other than the ANC,their coathangers or the EFF will be a vote for progress.

I see coalitions forming all over the place with parties other than the ANC... so the DA, COPE, Agang etc will team up where it makes sense and gives them enough firepower to beat the ANC back.

Depends, do you have better reasons not to vote DA than last time, other than first world problems, aka nanny state complaints?

The last time? Are you perhaps taking a single sentence I typed and basing your entire viewpoint on that?

I will vote for DA because they are the biggest opposition against the ANC. Also I have not heard much about Agang :/

I agree with you completely, I am also quite drawn to Agang's policies at present but have not been paying particular interest to them till recently, they are also still to new for dirty laundry to have been aired. Certainly not a final choice but right on top of my list right now.

you need to vote such that the democratic process is strengthened

For example, if in your heart you feel the ANC is the way to go but they lack direction now, vote for the strongest opposition as a stronger opposition keeps the ruling party in check.

In this instance voting for an opposition that most likely will not win much votes may not necessarily be the best thing for democracy, but may stroke your ego a little.

Vote for whoever you want to. Just don't come here and bitch about how the ANC have / are running the country.

Explain yourself (and try not to sound as if you are scared the boers are going to take over)...

Hardly any explanation necessary, I don't think. The aim of any South African with more than two brain cells should be, at this point in time, to minimise the power wielded by the African Nepotists' Coalition as effectively as possible. The DA has the most feasible platform from which to accomplish this. Yes, coalitions excluding the ANC may form, but they can also be sunk by petty infighting. The best way to guard against that is to vote for the party most likely to give the local bully a bloody nose.

Apologies, I was thinking of biometrics.

What are your reasons for not wanting to vote DA?

It is for a wide variety of things but basically they leave a dirty aftertaste in my mouth.
Experiences last time I communicated with them, promises broken (employees at work they promised to visit after I spent lots of energy and time convincing people to vote for them as an example) and many other little niggles in the last 4 odd years.

Sheesh - you need a wake up call.

I'm going to vote for the sexy party.

I get the theory behind this (I used to think the same way but my views have evolved).
Guys like you give me the security to know that I can put my vote anywhere I like and chances are the playing field will not be changed significantly in any way whatsoever but placing my vote where I feel it will work best may just change the playing field enough a few elections down the line to make a real difference, or not.

At least it's not a vote for one of the monopoly players, and who knows, perhaps all 3 the bullies will get a bloodied nose :)
