Yesterday I decided to spoil myself so I bought myself one of these.

It's a 22" widescreen 2ms 3000:1 monitor and I am really impressed with it.

It was an impulse buy:o and I didn't really research it the way I normally do before buying something expensive. It set me back R2800.

Is this a good price and what do you think about the screen?

As far as I understand it, it's the same as the 226BW with a glossy screen. If that's the case then it should be a great monitor :)

Have a look on PC International's site, I think they sell it as well. Then you'll be able to compare the prices :)

Dammit they're R200 cheaper than the place where I bought my screen.Their prices seem really good and I'll have a look there next time I buy something.

Thanx WKJ

Price is good.I payed about R2800 myself before the prices dropped:mad:
but im still VERY happy with it.
And yes, it an awesome monitor! One of the best.

Samsung 2232GW vs LG L226WTQ

I had the LG L226WTQ and sold it because they were out of stock and a friend of mine was begging me for my one as he did not want to buy a Samsung (just a personal 'thing' of his).

So I sold it to him and bought myself a Samsung 2232GW, because I wanted to do him a favour and the brand did not make a difference to me.

They are both 22" 2ms LCD monitors. They are both excellent, but there is one difference which is quite a big one to me:

The Samsung will support a 75Hz refresh rate at all resolutions lower than and including 1280x1024. At any higher resolutions, i.e. 1360x768, 1440x900 and 1680x1050, it will only do max refresh rate of 60Hz.

The LG will support the 75Hz refresh right up to and including 1440x900 and will only have to switch down to 60Hz for 1680x1050.

I've convinced myself that I feel nauseous after playing certain games at 60Hz for a while (e.g. COD4), and that I don't feel (as ?) nauseous when I play them at 75Hz refresh rate...

So, for games, the maximum usable widescreen resolution for me on the Samsung 2232gw is 1280x800, while the maximum usable resolution on the LG L226WTQ is 1440x900.

I do realise that this may be mind tricks, so please comment on this if you have an opinion. I know of others who feel nauseous after playing on an LCD, so I'm not alone in this, but can the refresh rate play a role in this (on LCD)?

Meanwhile, I'll sell the Samsung and buy another LG when it comes come back into stock.

n00b question

I'd also like to know the role the refresh rate and response rate play in all this, I mean is the difference between 5ms and 2ms even noticable?

If you get 50 FPS in a game, my bad maths tells me that new frames are animated every 0.02 seconds (1 second/ 50 frames), the screen's response is at 0.005 seconds, so you shouldn't notice anything..right?

I impulsively bought the pretty, tilty HP 22 inch widescreen LCD (5ms response rate) which looks gorgeous (especially when I put her in funny positions) but I dont notice anything in my games, I've moved resolutions up and down and I cant notice anything bad or nausiating. By the way its verrrry farking difficult to get a Samsung 2232GW.. no stock around, couldn't find the LG 22" in stock either..

Hey Guys

A little off topic here but what does one need to buy from PC International, do you need to become a reseller or can anyone just buy from them ?

Very tempting screen :p
