Hi Guys

I am looking at getting the Samsung 2333sw 23" lcd monitor.

I live in PE and so I need to find a company that is either here or can send one to me. I would like to buy one this week and don't know who has the best prices and delivers the best service.

I only have a geforce 9800gt gfx card but I will be scaling the res down when I play demanding games. I also would like to connect my PS3 to it as well, that's why I am looking at a full hd monitor

Another thing is does anybody know Samsung's policy on dead pixels? I dont want to pay an arm and a leg and get a defective monitor.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Not sure about the dead pixel policy. But I remember about 7 - 10 on their 22" monitors.

Why not just get it from Prophecy.co.za?

The 2494hs has built in speakers and isn't going for much more. It's R2500 at take2.co.za

I bought the 2494hs and i'm pretty impressed, just has retarded touch buttons on the screen

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies. I unfortunately have limited budget and can only afford the 2333sw, I can pick it up locally for R2259 but I can also get the Samsung T220 for the same price. Which one is better? Is R2259 a good price for the 2333sw.

Thanks

2333SW is better.

I don't think that's a bad price. It's about R100 more than I paid for mine in Jhb.

Haven't had one dead pixel complaint so far and I have sold a couple of these screens. :)

Using one myself.

For your uses, I'd say get the 2333sw due to it being 16:9 and not 16:10 like the T220.

my 2494hs cost me R2 200 on friday, walk in cash store tho

Thanks again guys.

Do any of you have any experience with lcd scaling in games. I have never had a lcd before and not too sure on the best scaling options when using games that are very demanding on my pc.

I heard you need to go into the nvidia options, just not sure which is the best in terms of picture quality, I am weary of this full hd resolution, I usually game at 1280x960.

Also, do your movies and dvd's look better, do they still have those black bars?

Thanks

PC ZONES in pinetown

well the 2494hs did some very good native scaling 1440x900 to 1920x1080 for a game i played, i actually had to go into the samsung menu to make sure it was running at the right res cause it looked like 1080

Yup they do have black bars and i found it to be worse but once you go LCD you never back :).

The colour and picture quality when you first get your first lcd blows your mind. My first lcd was a hanns g 19" and that did not have the best quality but compared to my 17" crt it was mind blowing.

I have the 2494 now and wow lcd's are just insane and anyone who can afford should get one. Takes a couple days of getting used to it for sure. the main thing for me and the reason i love lcd's is the colour, so rich and colourful compared to a crt. Looking at games, movies and pictures was just amazing on my old hannsg :), you don't notice it much when you move from lcd to lcd but crt to lcd you notice the colour change and picture quality and WOW.

The black bars are worse

I thought going from a normal CRT to a extra wide screen 1920x1080 would result in no bars or at least really small ones.

Another thing is what does text look like at that res. Is it too small?

Thanks

I think he meant scaling is worse. You should only run an lcd at it's native res. Which means no scaling.

With dvds you shouldn't get black bars with a 16:9 monitor, but very small bars with a 16:10 monitor.

text is fine at 1080p on the 24inch.

the scaling isnt nearly as bad as some of the older lcd's

Well the text is fine because you can set the text in terms of dpi, 100% 120% 150%, so the text is no problem. I dunno i don't watch alot of dvd's on mine, only dvd rips and blu ray mkv files. So it depends on how they encode them.

The bars are not worse but more noticeable i would say in a sense because the screen is so huge :p, look i have never met anyone who can say with a straight face that they prefer crt. It is not a question you should ask. Lcd's are miles better than crt in every aspect. If you can afford one and don't have one you need to move into the future :).
