The bars are not worse but more noticeable i would say in a sense because the screen is so huge :p, look i have never met anyone who can say with a straight face that they prefer crt. It is not a question you should ask. Lcd's are miles better than crt in every aspect. If you can afford one and don't have one you need to move into the future :).

I prefer the image quality on CRT, since colours seem less affected by ambient lighting. However, I will not easily return to a 4:3 resolution after experiencing 16:9. The space-saving on my desk, as well as the increased resolution is a true joy.

Gaming is fine, even for good old Diablo2 at 800x600. Setting the "flat panel scaling" option in the Nvidia Control Panel to "use my display's built-in scaling" means that it extends the game's image to the maximum size, without changing the aspect ratio which the game is set to. This means that an 800x600 image, at full-screen has black bars on the sides and the image seems slightly "pixelated", which I became accustomed to very quickly.

Games which support 1920x1080 (UT3 and Sacred2 in my case) are just... awesome.

Hi Guys

I bought the Samsung 2333sw yesterday :) from Anstek for R2249. All I can say is what was I thinking not getting something like this years ago. The picture quality is amazing and the size and resolution is out of this world. I played UT3 last night and I nearly cried it was so beautiful.

Does anybody know the best settings to use on this monitor eg. contrast etc and why do my movies look ever so slightly blurry. Is this because I am sitting so close to the monitor or is it just the movies because everything else looks great with no blur.

Are you using the white cable, i think its called dvi? Are you running the native resolution when watching movies?

I never change the monitor settings when it comes to contrast i just it stock standard.

There should be no blur at all. What is the quality of movie your watching, good quality? DVD or rip or what?
 
Hi

I am using the DVI cable. I am using VLC to watch movies so I am not sure if I am using the full resolution when I run it in full screen. I am using slightly compressed dvds :D

I will test it on some normal DVD's and see what happens. What is the best program to watch movies in HD anyway?

Also the nvidia scaling oprions just revert back to using my monitors built in scaling when I select one of the options. Have any of you heard of this before.

Well i would do this is i was you, uninstall all your codecs. Download and install only this codec so there are no conflicts and i use windows media to play all my dvdrips and mkv files.

I know when i have a problem with my mkv files removing all my old codecs and loading only this one cleared my problem as i think there were to many conflicting and causing kuk.
