Samsung exec confirms Galaxy S III specs

Why in the world would you want a quad core phone? I just don't get it.. leave it at dual core and give me more battery life please!

I agree 100%. I will gladly exchange the extra power for longer battery life. My Note and S2 can do all I expect/need from a phone as is but I genuinely can do with more battery life. I will even take a thicker little bit heavier device with a better battery. The emphasis is wrong ... especially when one considers the valid criticism against Android that battery life is very poor compare to iOS devices. Get the battery right first please, then go for more power.

Battery life of 1 hour when in use :(
 
To own the latest Android phone is like owning the latest Ferrari but with a 20 litre fuel tank.

thats like saying why do they make v8 AND V12 cars? rather give me better fuel economy. You don't have to buy the S3,(Samsung or Audi)

The improvement in technology might enable features no one of us have ever thought of, so if Samsung wants to push the boundaries of what's possible then why not?

Imagine if everyone decided after the nokia 3210 that there was no reason for a better phone or even worst if everyone decided that after Alexander Bell's first attempt.

Really? I always thought Iphones have got the worst battery life. I am quite happy with my RAZR battery life...but then again it does have a rather high capacity battery compared to other phones. Think about 1750amp hours thingies. :-)

There is a new Motorola Droid Fighter in the works that will have the same battery as the RAZR Maxx....think it is a 3300mah iirc. grrrrrrr.
 
I rooted my Note to gain full access to my USB thumb drive ... but now sits with a battery that drains in half a day. The severe drain starts the moment I connect the USB drive and then never stops even after the thumb drive was properly removed from the device. Something just keeps on sucking the battery dry. After a factory reset the battery is behaving itself ... until I stick a USB drive in again ... then the drain starts until the next factory reset. Thát is where Android falls flat on its face. It offers so much power and flexibility but costs the user dearly in battery juice. When one stops the battery leakage one sits with a device no better than what Apple offers with its limitations. I appreciate more and more why Apple impose the limitations it does.

Extended Battery Pack, at Samsung store in vodaworld. It does wonders.
 
The quad is actually there so you can run a full blown OS off the phone itself with an HDMI doc.

I highly doubt they would be stupid enough to run all 4 cores at the same time for minor tasks like apps.

I cant wait for it, having an entire PC in my pocket would be great for work
 
Nobody is forced to buy it so if its not for you then there are many to choose from.

The only thing for me is the screen size... :(

I reckon too big. The jump from 4.3" to 4.8" is unnecessary, unless they can fit it into the physical dimensions of the S2, without comprising too much on protection. I'm very happy with my S2, except for battery life. I have to recharge every night. But then again, I keep my WiFi and 3G enabled all the time.
