Samsung exec confirms Galaxy S III specs

The reason for 4 cores is to save battery life while allowing for processing power on demand. When the phone is not doing much, the additional cores are shut down and don't draw power. When the user needs the power, additional cores are woken up using more power.

That is how the Tegra3 works and I'm sure that Samsung will be doing the same with their architecture.
 
If you want battery life get a 3310 :)

Most CPU manufactures do it now....they shutdown a few cores that is not needed...
4 cores allows for things like your camera to utilise it's own core...no more blurry pics as with all camera phones.
Some phone in the next month or so is coming out with 3 cores...1 dedicated to camera...
google it.
 
Lol @ you guys complaining about battery life. What did you expect from a modern smartphone? Like a laptop, you'll need to learn how to manage your resources in order to optimise battery life. Things like WiFi/HSDPA/GPS/Syncing/background apps etc. Obviously if you have everything running you're going to kill your battery. The key is to use what you need when you need it, and disable it when you don't.

I think because ICS have no need for hard buttons the bezel on s3 will be very narrow and screen will take up almost the whole area thus bigger screen in the same size phone.
