My Pebble is better!! :p
I joke, don't flame me

I wanted to get the Gear but it's so expensive, maybe if the Gear 2 impresses me enough to warrant the price.

Samsung showcases Galaxy Gear integration with the BMW i3 electric car

Samsung has collaborated with BMW to offer owners of BMW’s i3 electric car and Samsung’s Galaxy Gear the ability to control various aspects of the car on their smartwatch, using BMW’s i Remote Application that is installed on a compatible smartphone. When connected with the car, drivers will be able to use the Gear to perform useful functions, such as checking the driving range, status of the windows and doors (whether they’re closed or open), adjusting the car’s interior temperature remotely, and even initiating navigation to a particular address.

Samsung will be showcasing the functionality with a BMW i3, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear at its booth at CES. The company hasn’t mentioned when we expect to see the Gear counterpart of the application make its way to consumers, and for now the CES showcase exists merely to highlight the possibilities of the Gear’s integration with cars and other non-mobile products.

Oh wow that's awesome, I always get this chill down my spine when I'm in a mall or somewhere and think did I lock the car is the windows closed.
You know what would be awesome if your watch vibrates when the car alarm goes off.

Gear is awesome. Have just been learning how to personalise the watch faces on the xda forum. My gear has the face of a Cartier watch. Brilliant!

I rooted my Gear last night!!!!
Its awesome. I cant believe I waited so long to do it.
It works exactly like standard if you want, using the touchwiz launcher, or you can use Nova or Apex launcher to run the watch
Will give more details later, having some battery issues but all good so far.

Picked up my Gear today. Loving the experience so far. BazzaR please post a link to the root tutorial you used.

Has anyone tried a custom rom?

Gear faces are such good quality, I am using this face for now though this will change with my mood or situation like meetings or weekends. Awesome.

I used the method below, but its quite a process. Have to root and install new kernel/recovery and then install custom ROM (only one out there)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537338 used for recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573449 used for custom ROM

I am currently running Null 21 but having two issues:
namely battery life is really bad,
and when a number is dialled from phone it automatically switched to Bluetooth headset and 'sends' call to watch.
Anyway, trying to work through the issues with XDA guys, may have fixed battery problem.

But going to download Null 22 tonight and give that a bash. And its really worth doing this, has made the watch function alot better and much more usefull

Sounds like a mission, I may just upgrade to the latest oem firmware till those kinks are sorted out :(

It's not that bad, just a bit of tinkering. And after installing 22 seems to be a lot better.

Has 22 fixed the dialler issue?

I upgraded to V700XXUBNA3 and it seems to have fixed the delay I had when looking at the watch face and delayed notifications.

Root and upgrade to Null tomorrow.

Thanks for the links btw :)
