You need to change a setting in the launcher you using, Nova. I don't have the Gear on today so can't check. Will do it tonight and let you know.
When you were installing Null in Aroma, did you select the motion control button option?
Also check xda thread for explanation the answer is in the first post of installation process

Is it this?

Open up Nova Settings
Goto Gestures & Buttons >> Home Button
Select Default Page. (If you know what your doing, you can change it to what ever you want)

I have tried everything here, I know I'm missing something silly though.

Yes, that is the work around. Set it to 'home screen' or something. But will only work if you selected button workaround during installation of null

Hey man, please link to the tutorial or let me know the exact setting for the wrist flick to default to the watch face. I have wracked XDA and all i find is this - "Go into nova settings, gestures and buttons, set home button to none" which takes me to the Nova home screen.

You have to put the watch face as a widget on the home screen. So it wont default to clock face like it did with TW launcher. It will got to home like on your phone. Then you must place a widget on the homescreen. Weather, clock, anything. I am using watchstyler and have downloaded a ton of really cool faces.

Will upload a pic on next post

I see a new firmware update came out for the Gear.
Anyone know what improvements (if any) it has brought about?

After reading this thread, I'm having second thoughts about selling my unused Gear. :)

CHANGELOG

23
AROMA / SCRIPT CLEANUP & OPTIMIZATIONS.
FRAMEWORK / LOW BATTERY LEVEL WARNING INCREASED
AROMA / KERNEL OPTIONS / CUSTOM & STOCK
AROMA / ALTERNATIVE SYSTEM FONT / LOWER CASE / THIN & TALL

Best part is you can opt for stock kernel, which will hopefully improve battery life any more

Been running null_23 for a few days now and its seems stable and no issues.
Battery life has improved with stock kernel and I have also been testing leaving the motion control off. I do not enjoy this, as I have to hit the button to check the time, but testing to see its influence on battery life. And so far it has improved having motion switched off. I'm into the 2nd day of no charge and sitting at 61%.
I will revert back to motion on, but then seems you have to charge it ever night, similar to stock.
Anyone else running Null? I am loving it, even got the gear sharing the GPS from phone and have full navigation on Gear

Pulled 23 last night and making the jump today. Glad to see the wrist flick option was fixed, that was a deal breaker for me.

Anyone going to update to Tizen???
I have the update but no going to flash until there is a solution to going back to Android. For now, the Tizen update is 99% permanent, but would like to try it.
The guys are saying that the battery is performing alot better.
