Anyone going to update to Tizen???
I have the update but no going to flash until there is a solution to going back to Android. For now, the Tizen update is 99% permanent, but would like to try it.
The guys are saying that the battery is performing alot better.

Really tempted. I will make the jump if there's a slew of apps for Tizen.

Yeah thats also a good reason, can do alot with android and null
But lately I find myself not using all the really cool stuff and just using as watch and notifier, thats why i am thinking about Tizen
Then dont want to lock it into Tizen and be denied using Android wear.
Lets see

I think il wait for June 25th and see if Google launches a workable build for Google Wear at their I/O conference. That maybe a game changer as the Gear already has a sufficient hardware spec and is running Android which Wear will be based on.

So I'm thinking of getting the Gear. Looking at the Gear 1 because it is much more affordable on the second hand market.
What are the main uses you guys use them for. I'm thinking of using it mainly for tracking my runs on the nike+ app, maybe get bluetooth earphones to run with.
What other good reasons are there for getting my hands on one?

Did you get your Gear 1?

Have you upgraded to tizen?

I'm struggling to get the notifications to provide a preview of the message.

I'm also struggling to get the notifications to change when a new message comes in. The notification comes up, but it's the same as the previous message. (3P apps. Like WhatsApp)

Any tips?

That's a whatsapp thing. Because the new messages get queued one behind the other in the same notification, the watch can only display part of the first one at notification time. If it was 3 different notifications, you wouldn't have that problem. This shouldn't be a problem on a Wear watch, as there Whatsapp built the notification on the watch, not a third party like Samsung has done here.

That is disappointing. It seems that even when I read the WhatsApp messages though that the next notification on the phone remains the previous message which was received (which I have already read at that stage)

Unless I clear the message on the watch, the next time I get a WhatsApp message from anyone, it just shows the same notification as was received for the previous message...

Running firmware: JDQ39.V700XXUBNA6 if that makes any difference...

This is the Gear 1?

You'll have to get someone with the same to test. My Gear 2 is fine.

This is the Gear 1. Haven't upgraded to Tizen.

Did a lot of Googling.

The problem only seems to exist with WhatsApp.

Tried ATN Manager. That has not solved it.

The stock notifications aren't detailed - it just says new WhatsApp message - and the ATN ones seem to demonstrate the above problem :(

that's because google talk is not supposed to exist anymore.

Hangouts or whatever the whippersnappers call it these days :p

Also just noticed lots of new updates for gear manager itself since the last time I checked. perhaps they will fix it.

For now I'm settling for no preview with WhatsApp messages. But at least they change when a new message is received.

Hangouts notifications are the best for me right now. A short preview of the message and no queuing of messages as is the case with WhatsApp.

The interwebs suggests that flashing a custom ROM is the way to go with the Gear. I've managed not to have to do that with my Note 3,which I love. So I'm hoping to avoid it here also.

Think I'll buy Notify Gear and see how that goes.
