Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Hi All

I've never had this problem before, so I'm not sure how to deal with it.

Google+ is draining my battery  but I like to use Google+. I've tried uninstalling Google+ with T Backup, but that caused system instability (phone slowing every few seconds with an error message about a service that can't start), so I had to restore the app.

I am running Omega V12 ROM.

Does anybody have any ideas?

The pic is after a full charge, after the phone has only been disconnected from the charger for 40 minutes. Phone was down to 98% with no use at all (save to dismiss the alarm that woke me); also no wifi or data was on.

Just an update on my previous problem. It was related to my external sd. It continually, everytime the phone came out of sleep, said 'sd unexpectedly removed' and proceeded to 'prepare sd card'. That caused huge battery drain, and performance reduction.

Using Transcend class 4 32gb. Anybody else had issues with sd card, and how to solve?

I have taken out the sd card for now, and it 'solved' the problem. :banghead:

I remember having the same issue with my S2, unfortunately I can't remember what the problem/issue were. :o I'll let you know if I recall what the problem was.

Edit: Have a look at this thread, maybe there's something in there that could solve your problem.

Anyone know when the Android 4.2 OTA update will be available in SA? I know I could go the rooting route (:P) but I'd like to avoid that for the time being.

The 4.2 Samsung based custom ROMS aren't even available. Well, not Omega. So, rough guess, another 6 months?

I am also waiting on the update. I know there was a website called samsunblog.co.za that would keep south africans up to date with the when and how to update but for some reason the website doesnt work anymore

Does anyone else keep accidentally hitting buttons on this phone? I'm finding it really annoying.

If I hold it on the edges I accidentally press the power or volume buttons, they press so easily - otherwise I accidentally hit the touch screen or, and this is by far the worst and most common, I'm scrolling down a page and my finger moves slightly off the bottom of the screen (you can't feel it), and onto the back button so you go back while in the middle of doing something.
It's so annoying that I'm actually thinking of selling the phone, as much as I'm enjoying the features it has, to avoid this frustration.

Nope have none of your problems at all. Only thing I very rarely hit is the button for the dual screen apps.

I'm also looking forward to the Samsung 4.2 update, hopefully we'll get it within the next month or two. (via other sources off course, I doubt SA updates will come anytime soon) If I recall correctly Samsung originally said the update would be released within the first quarter of the year.

Key Lime Pie will probably be announced sometime in October/November this year and will coincide with the Nexus 5 release, we wouldn't see an official Samsung update until the first quarter of 2014. CM and AOSP releases will probably be available as early as mid to late December 2013.

I'm currently running a AOSP based 4.2.2 rom on my Note 2, I like to new features that comes with it although I do miss some of the Samsung features that's not available.

Well it just seems other people don't seem to be having trouble getting hold of one. CellC in Fourways have told her they've been out of stock for 2 months and she's been waiting for Autopage also for about 2 months

Cellc direct on 084145 has the note 2. Just got mine about 4 days ago. I had to wait 1 week for them to get stock. They have stock of the note 2 in white and in titanium gray but trust me they are flying like hot cakes out of the store.

I went to pick up my phone at ram couriers warehouse and saw a basket of phones from cellc direct where the guy took my parcel out and there was at least 6 or 7 note 2 inside there and like 15 galaxy s3 there. Looks like cellc is just giving these contracts to anyone.

That said waiting less than a week is not so bad. My phone was sealed and unbranded and they sent me the 32GB version. Paying R359 a month on cellc on straigh up top up 30 :-)

Ok so my brand new (just over a week old now) Note 2 seems faulty.

All of a sudden it won't detect the SIM card anymore. I have tried the same SIM with other phones and it works. Other SIMs with this phone doesn't work.

So I'm without a functional phone for at least until this weekend. :( And then who knows what happens.

Not sure what happened it just stopped working for no reason. I have even tried factory reset.

Turns out it was Vodacoms fault. Something to do with LTE and TopUp accounts. Is sorted now, albeit I can only use Edge until it is sorted on Vodacoms side or until my upgrade contract kicks in 1st April. But get this, Vodacom sent me running around and literally driving in JoBurg traffic for over two hours to sort this out :(

Had to go from Midrand to Little Falls to get my box for the phone. Then had to go from Little Falls to Melrose Arch for a meeting. Then back to Midrand. Then as it turns out the phone was not faulty anyway :/ But they still gave me a new phone in the end.

Hi Guys and gals,

I am a Note 1 user and would like to upgrade to the note 2 but my only concern is that the S4 should be available middel May...

What would you suggest? Wait for the S4 or upgrade to the Note 2?

I own both the S3 and the Note 2. I upgraded to the Note 2 because of the bigger screen, so it's basically a personal choice. If you want a big screen go for the Note 2, if you don't care about screen size then I would suggest you wait for the S4.

my note 2 is corrupting my photos and videos

I dont know is it's a software issue or if I am doing anything wrong, the photos and videos that I take with my note 2 just get corrupted and become imposible to play, only black boxes are left where the photo and video icons are supposed to be

Your SD card may be faulty or needs to be formatted if your images are saved to the SD card. Set storage to phone and see if it still happens.

Question directed at Note 2 users :

Do you find that having a hd-ready screen vs a full hd screen has made any difference?

All the big boys are bringing out phones with 1920x1080...

Is it worth it?

I am sure side by side you can see a difference. But in the real world the higher resolution screen it just a battery eater.

Yeah I don't really see the point. Maybe on a tablet but on a phone it's a little bit pointless (but nice to have I guess )

and to top it off they giving the supplying the S4 with a less powerful battery then the note 2 and the screen size isnt that much different

You can actually see the difference & it's quite big.

All pro reviewers reckon it's almost day and night.
