Samsung Galaxy Note 2

It's a pity it keeps closing on my Note 2 running CarbonRom 4.2.2

Hi Dom1n8tr1x

Which kernel are you using with Carbon? I am currently running JellyBam v 7.4 after having wakelock issues with Carbon and the trinity kernel that comes with it.

Have you experienced anything like that?

I'm not running CarbonRom at the moment, but I used the stock kernel that comes with CarbonRom and didn't experience any wakelock issues. My phone did however become a bit unstable (feezing) after a while even when doing a clean install, that's one of the reasons why I went back to stock.

I'm currently looking at giving ParanoidAndroid rom a go, just waiting for Halo to be implemented into non Nexus Roms.

I had Carbon 1.7 running for 2 days before the wakelocks started.

I see that the PA rom is rated quite high over all, should work well. JellyBam actually combines features from 3 different roms. CM10.1, PA 3.15 and BAM.

Only thing missing is a kernel that I can undervolt, thus my reason for asking initially.

Hi. I know the Note 2 is old hat to many of you but I'm only just taking delivery :)

Sorry if I'm repeating an old enquiry but I want to know what I should be looking for to protect my new baby?

I'm inclined to go with the flap type cover (name escapes me?). Are there any brands out there that I should be looking for/steering clear of?

I foresee using the phone in a cradle of sorts in the car so: (1) protection, (2) functionality, (3) price and (4) looks are my three distinguishing factors in my decision.

On that note, I'm also looking for a sturdy and versatile cradle that I'll be using in my very bumpy ride. I'll use same with a blue tooth hands-free and will need visible/practical access to the gps, music & telephony functionality - possibly with the ability to take some limited video through the windscreen. It'd be important to me to be able to access the various power & usb ports whilst the device is 'docked' in this cradle.

Any recomendations on the cover/s and cradle are eagerly welcomed.

The Samsung flip cover is about the best for the phone.
A good screen protector will protect that big screen.

Samsung also have a suction cup mount for the S3, that takes the Note2.
To use the mount you will have to remove the flip cover though, and use the standard back cover.

Garmin have made their product available through Navigon free of charge for Note2 users.
It works better than most of the other GPS programs.
You also get 50Gig of Dropbox space for 2 years.

I hope Dropbox continues this partnership with Samsung because based on my current experiences my next phone would in all likelihood be another Samsung and I'm really enjoying my 50GB of space.

CarbonRom has released a new experimental version with Halo. For those who don't know what Halo is, have a look at the video:

I'm currently running it on my Note 2 and it's not that buggy once you manage to fix the SystemUI errors.

Looks good!

I am currently using LiquidSmooth 2.4. I find it very similar to Carbon, but more stable. It also finally solved my wakelock issues, so for now I will be using it as my daily.

Anyone here flashed a different modem/radio yet? Seems there are a few available which promises better signal strength if you are struggling with it.

Another OTA firmware upgrade this morning . But still 4.1.2. Only security upgrade.

I'm torn between running stock 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 AOSP. On the one side I love the apps and S-Pen features of the Samsung rom, on the other side I also love the added features you get with some AOSP roms. The latest addition of "Halo" to CarbonRom is a really nice feature. Those who use Facebook on Android will know what I'm taking about. They have taken chatheads and turned it into a very neat integrated notification system.

just got a update request for my note 2.
was 59Mb.
not sure what that was for? is that 4.1.2?
didnt know what my phone was on before... but its 4.1.2 now.

Yeah I agree...BUT, I have gotten so used to the speed of the AOSP roms that I get irritated with the stock roms when I go back. I guess I will be sticking with LiquidSmooth till I find something that doesnt work that I can't live without:)

My feeling exactly.

CarbonROM 1.7 is much more stable (no problems so far after a month of use) than 1.6.

Good to know!

CarbonROM was the first custom rom I tried and the speed was amazing!

Btw, do any of you guys have a stock N7100 rom zip? There are alot of links all over the interweb but everyone i have tried makes my anti malware freak out...

So my note 2 cannot wake up and ring the alarm, the alarm only rings when the phone is on, or is there some setting I need to tweak before the alarm can be able to wake up?

Good day Everyone. I would like to find out if there is a forum that discusses the latest deals for the Note 2. I just finished my current contract Redbull. The best deal I have seen is the one from MTN on their anytime 200. Is that the best. Your help will be appreciated!
