Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Can you point us in the right direction ...

Sure! No problem.

Check the first post of this XDA thread for all the latest information/instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487526

PS: OmniROM does not play nice with ClockWorkMod, install TWRP instead as suggested in the post. You won't believe how many people don't read the thread and get stuck on that point.

And please feel free to ask questions in this thread or alternatively PM me.

Poor communication

I'm just going to have a little rant about this...

The communication from Samsung and Vodacom regarding the 4.3 update has been SHOCKING. I tried asking Vodacom when it would be out, what the progress is, etc and all they could tell me was that they asked Samsung and hadn't heard back.

I tried emailing Samsung directly and they weren't even bothered to read my email properly. They just told me to please connect my phone to Kies and update it from there... gee, thanks.

Rant over. Now I'm just looking forward to getting an update. But at the rate they're going, they might actually just do better to skip the buggy 4.3 update and do a proper 4.4 roll-out (although I don't know if they actually need 4.3 first before they can go to 4.4...) Sigh

One more year of warranty, then I'm rooting and installing a custom ROM!

I also have one more year of warranty left and this was my plan too but I ran out of patience*.

*and according to the XDA posters it's not too difficult to revert back to stock if you do need to take it in. The chances of permanently bricking your phone these days while rooting or installing a custom ROM are also apparently very slim.

I just installed Ditto Note 3 on my phone... The WiFi didn't work so I flashed the new bootloader to fix the problem as recommended by XDA on the ROMs page... Now signal is weak but when I go to the router its got full signal. When I try connecting, I lose all signal and after a few seconds it gets the signal but it never connects :(

Anyone know how to sort out the issue?? :)

Is it 4.3 specific??

Wish I could help you on this one but I've never messed around with Ditto. I suspect your best bet would be to pose the questions to the developers themeselves in the XDA Ditto thread.

I'm trying to find more information about the 4.3 update that was pulled, and when a revised 4.3 update will be pushed out, but can't find anything. :(

Enjoy! Keep us posted on your experience with the ROM!

I'm a big fan of omni. Works very well and has a daily update - delta-based - so it only downloads a few MB of anything that has changed, and your ROM is never older than 24h...

Definitely one of my favourite features! I can't imagine going back to a ROM where I could easily spend a year waiting for updates.

Hi guys, I've been using Omni ROM but I need to take my phone in for repairs. So I want to flash a stock ROM again from Sammobile.

I had TWRP recovery with Omni, where can I get the stock recovery?

I've flashed the Sammobile ROM with Odin but now the phone won't boot, it's stuck at the Samsung logo.

Any advice?

I was away from my PC this weekend but I see you were helped in the XDA thread. Did you manage to get it sorted?

Thanks, I got it sorted. Just needed to do a factory reset/wipe. Phone in to MTN repair centre for broken glass and no idea what its going to cost

Having been through this exercise with a different phone, I'm guessing somewhere between R1500 - R2500. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Samsung charge approximately R1900 for broken glass on the note 2. MTN will probably add their bit on top, not sure how it works through them.
