Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Who here is still using Ditto Note ROM? Last time I tried it I had terrible battery drain and the phone ran hot.

But I'd like to try the ROM again.

Thanks

I'm still using it... With moderate to heavy usage my phone last 1-2 days... More or less as good as stock, maybe a bit worse :)

Has OmniRom got a decent feature-set now? When I first tested it was solid, but lacking a little in features like CM, PA and AOKP...

Any particular features you're interested in? I should be able to answer your question as it's still my daily driver but need more detail on what you're after. Do keep in mind though that one of the philosophies behind OmniROM is to try and keep it running lean (for battery and general performance I guess) so there's a chance that Touchwiz-like features may not find their way into the ROM.

I'm running CM on my Note2, but here's the positive and negative:

Positive:

Privacy Guard -- Per-app permission access. (Deny apps from accessing your info)
No Samsung bloatware

Negative:

Camera only works occasionally. Mostly it's "in use by another app". From what I've read on XDA this is an unfortunate bug.
(Exactly the same issue with another Note2 I flashed with the latest CM)

---

Fortunately I'm not too snappy with a camera, and Privacy Guard is #1 for me.
The lack of a stable camera is a nuisance though.

Anyone else running CM on their Notes?

Actually nothing specific. I just recall when I used it that I checked the settings page and went "ahhh, I can't really play around here too much"...:D

I am. Latest nightlies. I had the same issue with the camera, and if the phone dies, connecting it to the charger doesn't allow you to switch it on. It basically freezes on the charger screen. You have to do a battery pull, restart, then plug in again.

BUT, I don't use Focal as it just isn't up to scratch. My "daily" camera is Perfectly Clear - it is awesome. And Camera Zoom FX as a second option.

I love CM on the Note 2. Without the camera issue it is very good...

Any of you guys with the 4.4.2 ROMs using ART runtime?

I am on the BETA 3 Paranoid Android ROM and I would like to try it. Just wondering what your experience has been with it?

I try it every now and again and though it's grown more stable over time it still FC's some of my apps. Haven't tried it in the past three weeks though.

My Note 2 was stolen yesterday. Looks like I'm going back to my S3 for the foreseeable future.

Goodbye, thread...:(

I read that apps should open a bit faster and battery life might be a bit better?

Did you make a nandriod backup before switching between ART & Dalvik?

Really sorry to hear that :(. Catch you in the Note 3 or Note 4 thread once we've all upgraded again?

Thanks

Apps do perform a little better, not sure about battery life though. I haven't messed around with it long enough to have a clear answer on that.

Nope, really doubt it's necessary to make a backup. I've switched back and forth between ART and Dalvik a number of times within the same day without any data loss or corruption.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am going to change over tonight and see if I like it.

For what it's worth, I've decided to stay with the stock 4.3 from Sammobile as I am experiencing battery life like I haven't before!

This after trying Ditto Note and Omni (which I quite liked)

My Note 2 is from Telkom Mobile, so it's the XFA flavour.

I got the 4.3 official OTA update & happy with it.

However, the wifi is still all over the place and Messaging app needs smaller fonts.

Other than that, the screen on time is extremely good when reading ebooks, or watching movies.

Samfirmware reckons the Note 2 will get the KitKat update end of March, let's hope it's true.

Do any of your Note 2's take like 3min to go from charging at 100% to fully charged?
