Samsung Galaxy Note 2

My take is that HSPA+ is fast enough. Couldn't afford to pay for 100Mb/s in data consumption. Also, LTE will knock the battery further.

The battery life on my Note 2 is now exactly how I want it. Not going to mess that up with LTE power hungry modem.

That mtn deal a few pages back is not bad at all.
I wonder what cell C's price will be. I am itching for a new phone.
For the guys with the note, what phones did you have before. How big is the adjustment?
I'd love the screen size as I do loads of browsing on my phone.
But how practical is it for general use.
To me the one x/s3 size factor seemed to be maximum for general use but I've never handled a note yet.

The Note is not ackward to use at all. In the last two years I've migrated from iPhone 4 to SGS2 to Note 1 to Note 2. When I now place the iPhone/SGS2 next to my Notes I cannot believe I was satisfied (and willing to pay so much) for such small devices. You have to use it to appreciate it. Looking at pictures won't be convincing.

Problem is I don't know anyone with a note. I'd like to fiddle with the phone quite a bit before I buy it. The s3 is big enough, but the screen real estate on the not is starting to look attractive.
I guess I'll try to get to a store and ask for a demo which is not strapped down and see how comfortable it is. I know I'll like the size but carrying it around is the only thing I need convincing on.

There are Samsung branded shops in most provinces now, here in Cape Town there's one in Canal Walk.

They have all the latest Samsung products.

They will more than likely not have the new Note 2 yet. The one in Canal Walk is actually slow in getting new stuff. Too many times were told there that they "are waiting for stock to arrive, maybe next week, not sure".

Carrying it around has never ever been a problem for me. It easily slips in any pocket (shirt or trousers). It's big but very thin and light so it is not a pain to carry around. The harder part is to find a nice pouch or case if you're keen on that (I never bother with such).

Just be ready to explain what "that thing is" if you were to get a Note. It happens to me all the time. It does attract a lot of attention. Teenagers don't appreciate it though (my daughters still say that one should never be seen in public talking to a slab of chocolate ... the Note 2 fortunately looks less so). It's a device for those who care more about the "do" than the "how does it look on me?" types.

So has anybody managed to find a screen protector or some sort of cover locally?

I might just consider importing one, but seems like the local shops should have made more effort regarding this.

I ordered my Titanium Grey one last week and should be getting it on Monday from Vodacom.I wanted the least amount of money on Suscription so I went for a Business Call (R185) with a pay in price of R4100.So Im basically paying off R4440 over 24 months (R185p/m).The Business Call simcard is going to live in my cupboard and am going to use my S2 sim contract for its remaining year.(315 Top Up).So Im kinda buying the phone for R8540 and just paying off half of it.I'm not a very patient person when it comes to this kind of thing so waiting for better deals from different providers or a price drop is a no-go. It must be nooooooooow :)

I tried to order a Titanium Grey via Smartcom, but they messed it up (3 times actually) by setting up a new contract instead of upgrading. They promised delivery last Friday, then Monday now they "don't have stock". I suspect they never did and were stringing me along so I cancelled.

From what I can tell no other vodacom store has ever gotten grey. Beginning to think vodacom RSA only got a shipment of white.

Anyone?

The availability of accessories is tied to sales volumes of the devices themselves. Samsung should be more proactive in the early release periods to make their own accessories available ... and NB at fair prices. Samsung's branded accessories can be ridiculously expensive. Import for now. If the Note 2 sells well locally the accessories will come (as is happening with the S3 now ... stuff everywhere).

My Titanium Grey Note 2 I ordered arrived in Joburg on Friday.I should be getting mine sometime this week hopefully.I've decided I'm not gonna bug the store and just be patient.Theres only so much they can do.

You are so right. Just mentioning gettijng the note 2 to a few colleagues raised lots of questions.
I'm getting the bfore deal as posted on the forum. Anyone else going with that?

Thinking about it as well. It's either that or wait for FNB, but I see that the first Note is still R295 per month (R7080). Can only guess how much the Note 2 would be. R8400 as indicated by the RRP from some other providers?

Would have gone for BFore's deal but no cash lying around:erm:...so FNB it will be..whenever they wakeup. Just hope they aren't going to wait for the LTE version as that would be of no use for me, want the N7100

I wait one but the pricing is to ridiculous... gonna have to wait till the price comes down. Do you think it would have come down by much by Jan 2013? thats when im due for upgrade... its a long wait :(

TBH I don't think it's not going to come down much by then. It's even more difficult trying to find a grey one on prepaid in the short term!
