Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Since I can control myself and won't go OOB on the cell contract data, that question is pointless.
The question put simply is, at around R50 per month more, is an LTE Note 2 general retail value R1200 higher than a non-LTE version. Since I don't know, I'll ask. If that makes you feel like laughing, well okay then.

And regarding 'Vodascum', well...... To each their own but I've never had issues with them regarding service delivery, phone availability, billing, queries etc. From my experience with Cell C so far, it seems you get what you pay for.

Hey if you're happy paying exorbitant rates for data then that's your baby. As for LTE well you need to make the decision whether it provides sufficient benefit to you or are you getting it just for the sake of it..?

Well, I got my 'normal' Note 2 from Vodacom. Fantastic service from Calvin at the Vodacom shop at Voda(com)World; in and out with new sim in I think 15min, which is quicker than Cell C took to even come talk to me. But enough about Cell C.

Enjoying the device so far, but ran it dead and now charging to full - Been 3 1/2 hours and still not fully charged. I'm working nightshift so really want to play with the bloody thing hahaha!
Coming from a Desire HD, I cannot believe that 1 hour of playing on the Note 2 has made that phone feel so small!!!

Some nice short cuts I have found:

Google Now will sent you an email with the transcription and audio note if you start a voice query with note, very useful for quick reminders in the car!

Besides being able to take a screenshot but swiping your hand across the screen left to right you can also do it with the stylus buy pressing the button (AT LAST A USE FOR IT) and then taping the screen. Even better you can clip bits of the screen grab by encircling them with the dotted line.
These can then be exported to SNote or Skitch for annotation or directly to Gmail.

All very useful

Enjoy! You're going to love it. I think that last observation has probably held true for all new Note owners. It's always better on the big screen! :D

I just found the phone far too big had it for 2 weeks (like holding a plate against your ear) also couldn't get used to android & at the risk in getting shot down in flames I tunes apps are so much better than android IMO - just couldn't handle it so swopped it with someone for an Iphone 5 - happy bunny again :D

It's swapper's remorse that brought you back to this thread, isn't it?

So I signed up for contract upgrade for this phone (Note 2 standard not LTE) at the Vodacom shop at Fourways mall. This was 2 and a half weeks ago. (Saturday 2nd Feb)

They assured me they were getting in stock the following day or at very latest the Tuesday thereafter so I thought no big deal right?

Now after a few follow ups and even personally going to the store again they keep saying they are out of stock on this phone and Vodacom Headquarters are not supplying them and that these phones are just out of stock everywhere so I must just wait.

But now I have just seen a few posts above that some guy just walked in and walked out with one from Vodaworld in 15 minutes?

Are they bullsh****ng me?

Indeed, the vodacom shop (first on your left) at Vodaworld Midrand had white and silver in both std and LTE versions. I'd be kicking up a fuss right now if I were you.

Regarding size of phone; I got used to it almost immediately and another unexpected joy is that voicecalls seem to be clearer on the Note 2 than my old HTC too. Far prefer the HTC keyboard though, but I'll get used to the new one, it's worth the effort.

So true... and I got so used to it after a short space of time. Its just way to cool to not have one!

:wtf: Again sorry for your loss. I dont think you realize what you gave up... I cant understand why you would even think of swapping

Thanks. I am not too far from Midrand during working hours so hoping Vodaworld will still have some. :) Will phone them tomorrow to find out.

I cancelled my upgrade with the Vodacom in Fourways already. I just thought it was getting a bit ridiculous.

Omega V12 running smoothly.

You do lose the extra controls to adjust the notification toggles, you have to download and install the 'simplistic control' mod. Then you can edit the toggles as in V11, but with a app. You also get multi window control (which I don't use anyway).

I don't have the donate version of 'simplistic control', but I am supposed to get something else as well? And where?

Or buy SwiftKey on sale, best there is

Don't have a credit card (don't want one!). Is there any other means of payment to be able to buy from the stores?

I prefer anysoftkeyboard. It's free too.

I tried anysoftkeyboard this morning, not sure I like it (or prefer to normal).
What's irritating me with the Samsung keyboard is that other than full stop, the other regular punctuations aren't all that quick to access. HTC, you just held in a key to get the alt, with this you either select Sym and then choose, or hold in full stop and select.

A minor annoyance, but the always available numbers is nice. I just use punctuation more often than numbers.

Any radio will do, you don't need a SA specific one. Have a look on Xda forums to see what other people recommend and use. Please note that you can only flash a radio for your specific device i.e 7100 (international) /7105 (LTE)

If you only loaded a new ROM you radio will still be the same one that came with your phone. Radios are flashed separately.
