Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Same with me.. I also have the mtn contract and it is showing no updates. I saw Note 3 updates for Kitkat are circulating in USA.
 
Quick Q, I am on the Polish firmware but rooted. If i re-flash it (or another 4.4.2 official firmware) to remove root will it wipe the device?

Damn. Dunno what I can do to get it working now, a reinstall didn't do anything. Should perhaps try a wipe again, will see how energetic I feel this weekend.
 
Even after the Galaxy S5 unpacking event, the Note 3 is still the best Samsung phone money can buy. :)
 
Have to agree with you there. I was hoping the s5 would be better than the note 3 but no such luck glad I didn't wait and went for the note 3 no buyers remorse at all
 
TBH, the only addition that the S5 camera added was the HDR Video recording. We already recording at 4k resolution though with the 13MP camera bump (Just ensure your camera is set to 13MP it comes default at 9MP). I can do without the 3MP increase for the bigger screen size personally.

But agreed. Those ultimate powersaving features!!! Im getting around 15-16hours on my Note 3. Imagine the time with those features!
 
Will we see the general UX upgrade from S5 carry over to the note 3 or does this not happen?

I suspect we may see some changes to the dated TW coming soon with the promised overhaul, you can see it in the S5 notification panel already mirroring the Note Pro tablets.

I doubt the power saving feature will be one of them though.

Would be great if we did see a few refreshes, having had the long line of S phones the note 3 while hugely impressive and capable is a little boring and same-same purely in terms of user interface. Still wouldn't change to anything else.

A flagship Samsung phone normally gets 18 months of updates.

I'm sure the UX will be ported to the Note 3.
 
Well, I've found out what's been causing the problems with Deezer not working on the KitKat update. Google added a new "feature" in 4.4 that places restrictions on how applications use the external storage. Most apps are unable to write to external storage now. Deezer was trying to save the app data on my external memory card, and was not able to do so.

And I can't even blame Samsung for this, this is purely Google. So yeah, be warned that you might have issues with your external card on 4.4.
 
Absolutely no buyers remorse here - I wouldn't swop my Note 3 for an S5. Very happy I decided to go with the Note 3

I see no REAL improvement in the S5 over the S4

Note 3, still the best phone on the market, by far...
