Samsung has just announced an enhanced version of its Exynos 5 Octa chipset. Currently the Octa chipset is available only on the I9500 Galaxy S4 flagship.

The second generation Exynos 5 Octa might be called Exynos Evolved and will be officially presented next week. So far the teaser just says it’s "a more powerful, enhanced Exynos 5 Octa".

It seems Samsung is launching the new chipset just in time for the Galaxy Note III that's supposed to be unveiled in September and launch this Fall. The smartphone has been in the rumorlands for quite a while and it should be available in a couple of versions - one with Snapdragon 800 and another one powered by this improved Octa chipset.

Samsung promises to bring detailed specifications and more details on the new Exynos next week. Then we'll learn more about its GPU and the exact clock speed of its eight cores.

Hang on to your seats, boys and girls, this looks like an absolute monster..... :)

Galaxy Note III passes DLNA certification & will be running Android 4.3

Specifications :

5.7" 1080p Super AMOLED display
Snapdragon 800 chipset or Samsung's own second generation Exynos Octa platform
3GB of RAM
improved 13MP camera (over the Galaxy S4) with optical image stabilization
3200 mAh battery

I think this will be a worthy upgrade from my Galaxy S2! :D

It does sound like something else. And aluminum bodied, Snapdragon 800-wielding Note 3 would be special.

But the HTC One Max looks really good. And I don't know if I can go back to oversaturated AMOLED screens...

Most likely will look like the 1st pic.
Also the 2nd pic I think is Note 2 and 3.

Proud owner of Note II here :D and i love it, but i dont see myself getting another one if the built quality isnt better. Comparing to HTC, Nokia and Sony, Samsung is miles behind in terms of design. Even TouchWiz is crap. Might just get the HTC one max. who knows.

my wife got the note2 two months ago. i've been googling the note3 every day since. :)

it's been hard on me, because june was my upgrade month. i went for the s2 because i couldn't wait for the note. this time i'm waiting.... and it's tough! :)

i was hoping it would be the same as the youm prototype the samsung guy had on stage where the screen curled around the edge a bit. doesn't look like it's gonna happen this time round.

I am in exactly the same boat.

Already due for an upgrade, can get in my car now and return with the Note 2 LTE in my hand, but somehow I just know the Note 3 is going to be an exceptional & very special phone.

Like the saying goes - good things come to those who wait. ;)

How do you know that? All reports I've seen shows it's going to be a nice upgrade over the Note 2, but nothing "special". Just another Samsung plastic Touchwiz (Aka Fisher Pricewiz) phone. Nothing wrong with that, I'll probably get one myself. Just saying I don't think it's going to be exceptional or very special in any sense of the word. Now if they made it look like an Xperia... That would be something.

A full 1080p Super Amoled display, a new enhanced S4 CPU, with 3GB RAM, with 13 MP camera & a stylus....and it's "nothing special"?
