You take a R10000 tablet to the beach, which is full of sand?

Of course, I swim after work and most weekends with the kids and family, a few pics maybe a video make for a cool Auto Awesome when you get home :p

Point is the right protector can be a nice piece of mind touch if done well however most opt for the cheap chinese crap

My two year old S2 has never had a screen protector...the glass does not have a micro scratch on it, this despite falling a few times. The case almost looks new, bar one nick.

People are wasting money (and looks) on rubbish.

Go gently rub a few grains of sand on your screen and see what that does to your perfect screen.

It's still the flagship device. It will still take a few months of so for real price drops.

+1

Especially after the Galaxy S5 didnt get any pulses racing.

The Note 3 is the ultimate phone money can buy...and will be until the Note 4 arrives.

Contacted samsung premium call center this morning re my broken screen. Seems you dont get an instant replacement, you get a loan device whilst they repair yours. Did i misinterpret the original terms or have things changed?

Depends on the extent of the damage. A loan device is better than no device.

In real world use how much more does the Note 3 offer over the S3? I have the latter, played with the former and loved it, but am not sure if I will really perceive it as being much of an upgrade after a few weeks use.

I am concerned the S-Pen will be a novelty that will wear off. The bigger screen is one thing that is attractive based on my usage.

100% agree, loan device is great and appreciated but a far cry from what they cracked this value add up to be. Jist did some reading back to the launch, samsung themselves quoted on twitter, FB and in the launch press material a brand new replacement phone which quickly changed to a refurbished phone which has now changed to a loan phone. Coupled with the fact that no jhb based repair centers have replacement screens, imho theyre losing at the moment.

The Note 3 is basically an S4 on steroids (I have the S4). Every single aspect is better. You don't need the S-Pen to use the device, it's just an added benefit. It's a huge upgrade - especially coming from an S3.

Agreed but what I don't understand is that they are charging close to R140 pm extra for the gear which is no change from the last few months. With the gear 2 around the corner, I thought they may lower that. I suppose the Note 3 will still be sold with the old gear until the Note 4 comes out.

Well I'm coming from an S2... So it should be a massive upgrade for me. My old faithful is still going but the battery life is unpredictable and untrustworthy. Looking for a new battery as I want to pass it on.
