So apparently they are still giving the Gear away with all new contracts, info is scarce but its seems like its the Smart Plan, will know more shortly.
Any news on this? I'm 99% sure it'll be included in the contract price but I ain't one to look a gift horse in the mouth...
So if what we've been told is correct, Vodacom has just issued 100 Gears with Note 3s in the last few days...
Damn! This device is popular...

So maybe some of the early adopters can tell us what they use it for, apart from telephony...
Is it just Facebook, Twitter, Flipboard? How about DSTV (&Drifta). How indispensable is the S-Pen usage, and what do you use it for (photo editing, sketching, annotating docs)?
Is the Samsung Link the same as on the S4 wrt streaming content from Note to (Samsung) TV? Personally I love this feature, especially viewing videos shot on my S4.
I heard rumours that Telkom Mobile will be selling the Note 3 + watch on contract.....and maybe early sign-ups get a free watch as well?
Let's be positive and hopeful.![]()
you and me both![]()
I am also drooling over this phone. I'm waiting out the last couple of days of my VC contract and will be porting to Cell C on 01/11/2013. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get a contract in place and get hold of the phone after my VC contract is converted to pre-paid (31/10/2013)? Can I start to arrange the port / new contract with Cell C beforehand and get the local shop to order the phone in order for me to take delivery on 01/11/2013 or do I only start the process once the VC contract is converted?
I am sooo itching to get this thing, but I need to keep my current number.

They're all gone, it was inclusive in the R449pm
They had 4 units this morning but due to some rank incompetence they are all sold now and I'm left without one. The promo was R449 with a Gear.Any news on this? I'm 99% sure it'll be included in the contract price but I ain't one to look a gift horse in the mouth...
By the way, I see some guys here ordered Spigen covers for the Note 3, which site did you use? I can't get it from Amazon![]()
Your number to be ported MUST be on pre-paid before they will start the port process, but first your contract with them has to be approved, - usual FICA and credit vetting process.
Once approved they request your current operator to release the number onto their network, for activation on Cell-C. This they will tell you can take up-to "48 hours", but usually takes about 4-8 hours (in my experience). If your number is not activated on Cell-C overnight I suggest you call them, as I have had issues when porting in the past, with information that hadn't been properly captured to allow the port to go through, and as a result the port was just "hanging" with no-one looking at it.
Once your contract has been approved, there is no reason why you can't leave the shop with phone in hand, provided they have stock. I suggest you inform them at least 4 working days prior to signing on with them so that they can order a unit for you. MTN was willing to do this for me.
If you are getting a "special" from Cell-C, write down the details there-of on the contract that you sign. I once had to engage ICASA to get Cell-C to honor a special (additional minutes and data).
Good luck!
