I'm thinking about the Combo deal from MTN.
The GEAR does seem a bit gimmicky.
How's the real-world battery life experience?

I'd also love the Gear only on contract from FNB.

Early adopter without the extras...

Wow. Scary what sales people tell customers!!
Went to Vodacom East Rand Mall and sales lady whas busy explaining to customers that the Gear is so awesome that it can make calls if you forgot phone at home.
Ouch!!

Buy it cash, never! It's too darn expensive for a watch. :D

I didn't have much interest in the Gear since you couldn't read all your notifications on it, but since someone on XDA released a app that basically let's you read any notifications on the Gear it's more usable than just being a glorified watch. :)

Doubt if I will ever wear a watch again, as you need to take it off when working on a notebook in any case, otherwise you'll scratch your notebook.

Also, The Verge review of the Gear watch mentions that the watch is way too dependent on the phone. Don't like that.

Now can I buy your pebble blue Samsung Galaxy S3? :D

That Smartwatch + Note 3 deal looks amazing... So tempted to abandon my Nexus for it. But FNB don't sell the LTE version

I don't personally see the need for LTE. HSDPA is faster than my ADSL connection at home and fast enough for anything I want to do online with my phone while mobile. The 4k recording I don't need as well, I don't see myself even owning a 4k screen to play it back on within the next 2 years. I can just imagine the size of the 4k files as well.

Don't listen Mike, do it!!! :D

I prefer your advice over the other guys :)

Have to agree.

I have the LTE and not even enabled the sim yet. H+ perfectly fine for me.

And the 4k recording... Nothing to watch the video on and too much of a space sucker. I always use 720p anyway.

This is very true. When I first got my Note 3, I played with the settings and out of curiosity I set settings to 4k and took a video. Fast forward a few days, I am with my kids at the Lion park in Paarl area and my daughter asks me to take video so she can use in her school project (she is 8). Take the video and all is well until we get home, I copy the files to a flash drive and then try playback the video files to realize I never changed the settings back - the playback is extremely choppy and the file sizes are HUGE!!! 720p is perfect for shooting some video.

I don't want the LTE version for LTE or the 4K recording ability- I want it because it has the Snapdragon 800 chipset, which makes ROM development much better compared to the Exynos equivalent...

Ya. My primary reason for wanting the LTE too. I flash addiction took a dive when I got the octa S4.

Finally some decent after market covers arriving. I got the Incipio Feather in black, its a hard shell slim fit. If anybody is keen ill post some pictures of the fit.

Yea please do.

I'm not going back to my pre-Nexus days of broken ROM's and atrocious battery life. I want something that works, and that isn't Samsung Touchwiz.

Touchwiz works perfectly. We just replace it with other stuff because it's ugly.

is anyone else getting a security warning regarding a app trying to access on there note 3. I have been getting it since yesterday. and on android central forum a few others are also reporting same problem
