These B@stards did not give my cover...they said that its only if you get the549 package...

The ad says something differently. What do I do now?

Has anyone Managed to find any accessories like the covers or Screen protectors in Durban ?

If you are a client, you can go through FNB for the Note 3.
It will cost you R365 per month for 24 months.

I am a client, but loathe to get into another 24 month "lease" after my Galaxy TAB 10.1 was stolen in March and I had to settle at the full price (it's been a bad year crime wise).

So, Best price on a S4 = R7500incl
Best price on a Note 3 = R9000incl

While I believe that the Note 3 is worth the premium for it's bigger screen estate, faster processor, bigger RAM and Premium ADH, I have an issue with the camera on the back. With that " stitched leather" back cover, one would feel there is no need for a clip on phone protector (I had a cygnett carbon on my S4 which had many scratches in the centre from the phone lying on surfaces) but that camera lens cover protrudes past the "leather" and will be terribly scratched in 18month time. Adding a cover (when they become available) will make the Note 3 very bulky in the pocket.

I have decided to stick with the S4 and another Cygnett carbon cover. The stylus was not really a deal breaker for me as I was only chasing a bigger screen and faster performance. The fact that the S4 NEVER lagged in the 6 months that I had it leaves a slightly bigger screen and PREMIUM ADH for R1500incl. If I was upgrading and had the choice between the 2 phones for the same monthly fee, THEN I would take the Note3.

As a matter of interest I walked our biggest mall flat today. Cell C refused to sell their stock for cash as they "make more money on contracts". MTN SP teased me by showing me a sealed box containing a white one and said their price is R9000incl, but they cannot sell for cash (WTF?!). Glomail had not received their stock yet but said they will land at R9000incl in about a week. Vodacom was R10600incl for cash (again, WTF!) and were willing to sell to me.

Back to buy the S4 tomorrow although the decision would have gone the other way if that camera was recessed.......

Vodacom store in gateway has the accessories like the flip cases. They are priced terribly.

I plan to import my case from spigen online store with a screen protector. Their cases look better and protect the handset better.

Here's a link below:

Spigen make great stuff. My screen protector is still on my S2 and its barely noticeable.

Their Snap Case looks great too.

Until then I have ordered a few cases from Ebay to try out.

I am still waiting for the Telkom Mobile deals on the Note 3, before I put my money down.

Just cannot believe that Vodacom is selling you a Note 3, with only 300MB of monthly data! That is the equivalent of watching one YouTube video in HD quality, and your 300MB is gone. And if you add a 1GB data bundle, then you're already on R559 a month, but I suspect if you start using the Note 3 as your phone/tablet, 1GB of data is not going to last you for the full month.

People saying that the small data bundles doesn't bother them, cos they're on wifi all the time, might then be better off getting the non-lte version, as the lte radio sucks more power than 3G & you will never really use lte.

The other nice thing about Telkom Mobile, is the free wifi hotspot data you get. There are already a lot of places offering that, and it would be most welcome if you can save on your data bundle.

On all the high-end deals Telkom Mobile is offering 5GB data for 24 months, and it would seem to me they are the only service provider in South Africa who understands the concept of a smart device.

The best thing for me would be if there were more data partnerships with ISPs like Afrihost and MTN where you just put in the afrihost apn. Does anyone offer something like that for vodacom? Agree with you about the data bundles being too little especially for LTE

Edit : does anyone know how to cut and paste words/selection from messages? On my DHD I would just long press a word to do this

It depends on the app.

I see in some of the apps, when you long press a word, a little menu appears at the top, with the cut and copy commands & you must use/tap that.

But for most apps, the long press still does the job.

Long selecting a word works for me.

Anybody picked up the loose home button that can look a little skew at times? OCD i know, but saw it been discussed on a forum.

Long press works if I'm browsing a Web page but if I long press on messages (txt) when trying to copy an OTP for example, I get the messages menu with the option to copy the whole message and not just the OTP

Ah I see what you mean... In that case, select the forward option and long press from there.
