N9005 LTE model only!!!

For once, Vodacom being slow as sh**t with updates pays off...
Full root, with Knox warranty intact, official system status, and updated to the latest BTU firmware MJ7 is a no-brainer. Note that you HAVE to first get rooted, as per the first link. Use Xposed Framework and Wanam Exposed module for system status. Google for this part, it is not that difficult...

First, get the URLD script and files (you must be on MI7): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47459280&postcount=378

Follow instructions in post #1 and 2 to complete root on MI7 original firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498850

Then read here to update to MJ7 with Mobile Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522729

Result: success, running MJ7 with Knox-safe bootloader! No more Vodacom branding on the splash screen either, which was my main motivation for doing this.

Disclaimer: you do this at your own risk! Read, read and read some more BEFORE trying this if you don't follow! Go complain to somebody else if you try this and mess up!

Thanks for posting up this info and links. It will definitely be useful when I decide it's time to root my N3.

I'm looking at getting a new Note 3 this week. I'm confused at the different versions, and who supplies what. Is it better to get the LTE version, I see they have different processors, which version has the better processor ? I also see they make a 32 and 64 GB model, are both 32 and 64 available in SA ? The deal that looks good is the Telkom Mobile one with 5 GB data per month, but not sure which model they supply ?

Telkom and cell c will have the non-lte octa core version.
I think you can only get the lte version from Vodacom and MTN.
The lte version will have the snapdragon quad core processor which will be better in terms of development of custom roms etc. They both great though and if you not planning on flashing custom roms and stuff the octa core will be fine. Lte would be first prize though, but not at the cost of a terrible contract (vc and mtn) imo.

Why does my phone keep telling me i have an unstable wifi connection? I have full signal and running at 8.8mb download speed? Can i disable this feature somehow

Just select don't show again when the message pops up?

The new update added some new messages - this being one of them.

Got the same problem. It's irritating. I don't think there's an option to select don't show again.

I think you can sync with Google

I've seen that in the Google Account sync menu under settungs, but I've heard that that service is not reliable.
Did you, or anyone her, have good luck / bad luck with it? (syncing app data from old Android to new Android phone using data sync from Google Account sync settings under the settings menu)

Hi guys, my note 2 took a fall yesterday. The glass is cracked all over the screen.

I decided that I want to upgrade.
On gumtree there there are a few good deals for sealed phones.

My dilemma is basically that I prefer a black phone.
There are two in the same price range. The n9005 is white and I could get a black n9000.

At the moment I am not too bothered with flashing. I've never flashed since my desire HD. I guess I'll only bother with a spare phone. What are the other differences like?
The important thing is battery life I guess? Any difference between the two models in that regard?
I don't care much for 4k recording and I am on cell c so I don't think lte will be very beneficial if at all.
Another option could be to just take the white one and get a black s-view cover?
Thoughts?

The N900 is perfectly fine... Our current LTE network doesn't have that much of an improvement over our normal HSUPA networks, and only certain areas offer good signal and service...

Put it this way, in normal daily use, performing the tasks that you normally do, you would really notice any difference between the two version.....

So I guess it's basically what colour you want...

I'll prefer the N9005, because it uses the Snapdragon S800 quad core processor, which is better (IMO) than Samsung's octa-core. It has better developer support, and I believe it runs Android better. Samsung's octa-core is not that well optimised.

Though the difference is probably very minimal, whichever you choose will be fine.
