Welcome to the club... You gonna love it, trust me...

Small question for the fellow Note users. How many of you are using different launchers? Are some of you still using TouchWiz?

My favourite Launcher is Nova Launcher, but I just keep on coming back to Touchwiz.

Samsung have improved a lot on Touchwiz since the Note 2 and added some nice new features, which at first glance might not be noticed.

Well, I finally got my Note 3 LTE yesterday. I wanted to get one from TM with the 5 GB data deal, but they had no stock and the salesman didn't sound confident that it would be anytime soon. MTN also had no stock, and they said they do not carry stock.

That left Vodacom and Cell C. Both of them had stock of both colours. After careful thought, I went for the Vodacom one. I hate dealing with Vodacom, but they have the (I think) better model N005 with LTE. This model also has a better camera 60fps and better picture resolution (I read that somewhere).

This is one fantastic device...dare I say, the best phone ever produced to date. Like I said, I hate Vodacom. My Vodacom contract SIM that came with my Note 3, has been stored in my cupboard, and I have put a prepaid Cell C SIM inside. Vodacom are very sneaky with their billing - run out of contract airtime and data, and you are charged an arm and a leg. What makes it worse, is that you are not allowed to put a cap on usage for the first 6 months of your contract. This tells me that Vodacon are hoping most users will go over their bundle, and they will then reap the rewards.

I used to be an iPhone fan - owned the first 4 models, but I think Samsung/Android has now left Apple in the dust. The Android software has become better and FAR more customisable than iOS, and the large clear screen of the Note 3 makes an iPhone screen look mickey mouse.

The only things where I think the iPhone beats the Note 3 on, are build quality...the shiny plastic S/S lookalike band going around the Note 3 feels really cheap. The fake leather back on the note 3 is better than having a smooth plastic back, but lacks the quality feel of glass or aluminium back of the iPhone - this isn't a biggie, as most people put their Note in a pouch anyway.
The other thing I like about iOS, is the ease of installing and syncing media - music, contacts, video etc etc. I am still battling to get my contacts onto my Note 3....I will get it done tonight.

Great phone....I am stunned by the post of someone a few posts back, who wanted to sell his one month old Note 3 LTE, because he doesn't like Android.... ?

Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Before the Note 3 my only ever other phone was an iPhone - had the 2G all the way to 5. I won't argue that the phone has some great features and the screen is beautiful but maybe it's just me but I just can't get into it - and believe me I have tried.

For some reason, I just prefer the iPhone and iOS.

We will see what happens. maybe I won't be able to sell the phone and then am stuck with it and get forced to like it... Only time will tell.

I use Apex launcher.
Have tried them all and I think it is the best of the lot.

FINALLY got mine on Tuesday (thanks Ockie!) Now about this ADH thing, I've sent a few SMS's and one of them worked, it's pretty unclear as to how to do it, some say you need a hash at the end, but it seems not putting the hash, or the slash or the last 2 digits is what did the trick.

So I got an SMS back saying: "Congratulations your N9005 is now covered by Accidental Damage Handling(ADH), please visit www.samsung/samsungadh to view terms and conditions."

Of course the website doesn't exist since there's no top-level domain in the link, so my question now is am I registered for the normal ADH or the "Premium" one since they don't mention that anywhere. It's like they don't want people to know about this.

As long as you have PoP you don't need to register.

I bought the first version of Apple iPhone while in the USA - the one that never made it to S.A, followed by the 3G, 3GS and finally an iPhone 4. Last year I got the Samsung S3. After using iOS for so many years, Android did seem a bit daunting, but after getting to know it I far prefer having the ability to customise so many of the phones features, compared to iOS....and this "less is more" idea of Johnny Ive in iOS 7 is ridiculous.

I also like the ability to change out my batteries - I have ordered 3 spare batteries and an external charger for these batteries, for my Note 3 off eBay for around $ 18 (with free shipping)

Using Touchwiz (of course, since you can't change the interface without custom ROMs), but using Nova Launcher, which I also had on my S3 and my RAZR. I must say, Touchpiz has improved quite a bit from the S4, and MASSIVELY since the S3. It's actually great to use now, and looks much more sensible as well, less like it was made out of Duplo blocks.

That is true... I have noticed a change to Touchwiz on the Note that the S4 doesn't have... even when I updated my S4 to 4.3, it still looked different on the Note...

Are you sure it's the phone and not the S-Pen?

Didn't have another S-Pen did try another tip. It must be the array sensing the pen because the touch works fine. Also the pen works fine on all other areas except that column top to bottom.

The pen jumps that section and if you remove the pen from NFC range and bring it down in that column it does not detect.

Very annoying. Defeats the purpose of the pen. Also not cool for a R10k unit.

It's the digitiser, that sumbitch is busted.

And again, every device has some DOA's, irrespective of the costs.

Please elaborate on the difference. Can you pinpoint anything specific?
Could it be due to the hardware? The Note3 has a faster processor and more RAM than the S4, so could this be the reason for the difference in user experience?

I'm still running 4.2.2 on my S4 and am delaying the upgrade until I'm sure it will leave me with a better phone.

What is with the number of posts popping up where peeps respond to posts without quoting the post they are responding too? Driving me nuts trying to track who is responding to who.

I think RPM needs to run a "how to use a forum" thread/class. :p

I thought of that, but don't have the time to go back pages and pages and pages and..... multi quoting.

Getting very common now days to read a post and wonder what the hell the person is responding too. :banghead::D

It's hard to actually put it down to what's what with the 2, but you can feel when using the Note after the S4 that it's different. Visually, the very close, apart from small little changes. It just feels different...

True but when you are a small time reseller you can't afford DOA's and tell the client sorry sir we must first send back this unit for testing and 48 hours later you still don't have a replacement unit for him.

DOA on expensive items should be minimized by a required routine inspection on all units sold.

What is the carbon footprint of DOA units that have to be sent back.

I just can't afford it.
