True but when you are a small time reseller you can't afford DOA's and tell the client sorry sir we must first send back this unit for testing and 48 hours later you still don't have a replacement unit for him.

DOA on expensive items should be minimized by a required routine inspection on all units sold.

What is the carbon footprint of DOA units that have to be sent back.

I just can't afford it.

Um... The manufacturer pays. And believe me, they do minimize failures through QA testing. Minimal != none.

Didn't have another S-Pen did try another tip. It must be the array sensing the pen because the touch works fine. Also the pen works fine on all other areas except that column top to bottom.

The pen jumps that section and if you remove the pen from NFC range and bring it down in that column it does not detect.

Very annoying. Defeats the purpose of the pen. Also not cool for a R10k unit.

There's 5 spare tips that come with the Note 3, some have rubber tips and some have plastic tips, you will have to see which works for you.

Woohooo I just got my NOTE 3 so:

How long do I need to charge it for BEFORE I start using it?
Do I need a screen protector? these are supposed to be Gorilla glass right?

I am sooo excited :-)

I charged mine after the battery drained the first time.

Screen protector is not nice on the Note3. I don't have one.

No need to charge it before use!
Use it until flat and then fully charge it.

I don't think a screen protector is needed, but there have been some issues reported when putting on a screen protector and then removing it later. Sometimes the screen makes funny colours...

Enjoy it!

So I should just switch it on and start using it till it drains and THEN do a full charge?

You can start using it straight away. I usually charge mine at about 10%.

I use a screen protector on mine, rather save than sorry.

Congrats. It's the best phone out there atm in my opinion.

Also didn't charge it out of box, used it until flat then charged fully.
No screen protector either, on my note 2 made the S pen experience bad....haha

Didn't know there were differ types of tips in that pack, will check when I get home, cause a rubber one might make a real difference

Anyone knows how the Vodacom Powerbank works?

I assume its something like a portable battery with 2 USB ports (In and Out); you can charge this portable battery via the In port, and use the Out port to charge your device.

I assume its these things here?

These powerbanks were first introduced when devices came with batteries that you can't unplug (like the iPhone). Its quite convenient when you need to charge your phone while on the move, e.g. bus/train/plane.

Ahuh you are right, I looked at the link, so basically it holds a charge and can be used to charge my phone, cool :-)
Thanks!

Just bought 1 for my dad and busy setting it up for him

Question - is there anyway to use the R100 voucher Samsung gives you to buy Swiftkey, Nova Launcher & Plex?

Can't seem to find it on the Samsung app store - only the Play store

Strange that a few apps are on both stores yet these aren't

If you do decide to go for a screen protector, avoid the matt, finger-proof type. They don't do justice to that beautiful HD screen. Results in the screen being dull, kinda blurry.
Rather go for the clear "colour-enhancing" one (that's what they call the Bodyglove one).

Had the body glove colour enhancing protector on my note 3 fit just under a week. Removed it yesterday. Colour is better enhanced without it :)

My phone is in a flip cover so I don't really see the need

I've got the Spigen Ultra Crystal on and quite happy :)

I'm not putting any screen protector on......want to see how durable screen is.
Also only use a cheap rubber cover at work but try to use phone without covers or anything. Just my preference I guess.

No, don't do it!

You first need to find a truly flat surface to put the phone on, before charging it for the first time, otherwise some of the liquid inside the battery might not get a 100% charge and it will shorten the battery life.

After charging it to 100%, you need to switch off the phone and do a battery pull.

Then you must wait for full moon, before putting the battery back. The allignment between the battery and full moon is critical, otherwise it might also shorten battery life.

You must repeat this process at least five times, before the battery will start functioning optimally.

Hope this helps.
