No, don't do it!

You first need to find a truly flat surface to put the phone on, before charging it for the first time, otherwise some of the liquid inside the battery might not get a 100% charge and it will shorten the battery life.

After charging it to 100%, you need to switch off the phone and do a battery pull.

Then you must wait for full moon, before putting the battery back. The allignment between the battery and full moon is critical, otherwise it might also shorten battery life.

You must repeat this process at least five times, before the battery will start functioning optimally.

Hope this helps.

Damn...now I know why my battery isn't lasting like it should! :)

They say you can place the battery in the freezer to bypass this uneven surface issue

Strange strange child, you know full well that FULL MOON was about a week ago, now I have to wait a good few weeks *sigh*

:D but jokes aside, the battery life on the Note 3 is damn good - way better than on my Samsung S3. I often could not get through a a full day with my S3. But here, on my two day old Note 3 LTE at 5.20pm and my Note 3 battery is on 72% remaining !!!

I have ordered 3 extra batteries off eBay for my Note 3 LTE, and they have a slightly higher current capacity than the standard ones, for just a couple of dollars and free shipping....so I'm not too concerned about being left stranded with a flat battery.

Yeah this thing's battery life is beyond awesome. It even blows my Nexus 7 out of the water. Unplugged at 7 this morning, and after a day of moderate to light use (but many phone calls), it's just dropped to 79%. The S3 would be on 40 by now.

:)

A phone battery is just....a phone battery.

It powers your phone and when it runs out of juice, just plug the charger in.

If it starts giving you very crappy battery life after two years, just get a new battery. Problem solved.

However, some sales people will still recommend that your first charge for your new phone should be at least 16 hours, something that was true for the phone of the 90s and early 2000s, but that can actually cause damage to the new generation of batteries.

If you want a phone that still has a standby time of 25 days, then get yourself a Nokia 100. :)

The bottom line is just that you shouldn't worry about a phone battery anymore, if it's running out of juice, just plug it into your computer, wall socket or car charger.

Yes, that used to be the case. Although many new phones' manuals/quick start guides (including the Note 3) still says to charge it... The old phones came with the batteries completely flat, you couldn't even turn them on before charging.

But eventually, batteries will wear out. That's why I hate this stupid new craze of non-replaceable batteries, one of Apple's few true innovations.

Agreed, put it on straight out of the box and lasted till this morning, I watched videos / downloaded apps and games, wifi on, gps on etc

So far VERY good :-)

So many people have commented on how big the phone is, almost in disbelief. Some people just can't fathom the idea of carrying a large phone. I love the size. Don't think I could go back to a smaller device.

Me neither, Samsung probably have me locked into the note range.

So everyone who's using an S-view cover with their Note 3's ... how are you guys getting along with it? Are there any annoyances that i should know about before shelling out R700 for one?

Thanks for the link dude :-)....much appreciated. I was just at the Vodacom data store in Canal Walk and got quoted R829 for an S-View cover :O
I'd still like to know everyone's experience with it though...

I bought a fake Chinese one for R140. The S-view doesn't work but it's still a decent cover and stand and there's no way in hell I'm paying R700 for a friggin piece of plastic and rubber.

My el cheapo s-view scratched my even cheaper screen protector, some people have noted the original s-view doing the same, apparently dust becomes trapped and with a bit of rubbing it causes scratches.

How do you mean it doesn't work?
