Well I think I'm going to root my gear tonight and install custom rom. Should have a lot more functionality then, wish me luck, maybe will start a new thread on my, if there isn't one already

Let us know how it went, I'm thinking of doing the same but worry about what to do when something should break and I have to return it.

EDIT: we need a dedicated Gear thread. I've used the Google+ community the past month. Very helpful people over there.

Yeah me too but it should work. Done a ton of reading on xda, looks pretty simple and amazing! Will let you all know

Haha. Well, current pace, average pace, calories burnt. Those would be nice. This is why I'm saying that a running app would have been good.

Yes, but once Knox has been set to 0X1 it can't be reversed.
 
Got my Note 3 on Monday and flashed CM11 yesterday. I almost forgot how much I hated Touchwhiz until I was forced to use it for a few hours LOL...

For anybody considering, Temasek's CM11 runs super smooth and stable, and the new Google Experience Launcher works extremely well on the large screen.

I have been using GEL since launch, I really like it but I kinda went back to stock TouchWIZ after a few days. I'm going to get flamed for this but Touchwiz has matured since my S2 and I really love it now :o

Have you noted any other perks with this rom, battery life or signal improvements maybe?

I had the GEL on my note 2 and wasnt that impressed. Sticking with Apex for now until I root, but still want stock for while.
And I agree with you.....Touchwiz isnt all bad, not sure why people hate it so much.

I wonder when we will get kitkat update?? Read somewhere that it will be this month??

Just make sure that you actually want the kitkat update. Google have removed several very useful features with kitkat.

It's pretty much as easy as any other Samsung device! It goes something like this:

1 Root
2 Boot to custom recovery
3 Flash CM11
4 Flash GApps
5 Wipe data and factory reset
6 Done

If it's your first time, there are loads of tutorials and YouTube videos to take you through the detail
