Ok so I've recently switched to using lean Kernel with X-Note 17. Here's my Battery Stats for the last charge cycle:

Works out to 4.2% drop in battery per hour. Think I've gotten to the point where I'm really happy with all my settings, apps and battery life. Will be hesitant to switch up to Android L now... :(

I have tons of issues since the 4.4.2 update as posted here previously.. Biggest battery hog is Android system and I get a max of 9 hours now

Android system is hogging the battery because of sview cover service that is running constantly. Unfortunately you need root to get rid of it. Did it on mine and battery live improved.

What's you'll screen on times like?

Extremely heavy usage today and standing on 14hours since last charge with about 7hours screen on time. Had to give it a short charge earlier of about 10 mins on charge.

Must add that i am in the bush with almost no signal, connect via wifi to a mifi with vc sim in. Using bird app on phone to id birds.....

Will run with out charge tomorrow and see what i get.

Try the SEE one, first one on the list, ng2. I am on nf4 version via x-note v18.

In installed this so long:

File Desc: Revert "install: Support downgrade

The rom dl is going to take another 3 hours to complete.

The CWM above asked if I want to root. I take it my Knox is already tripped right? No way that I can go back to stock/official?

Am I stuck on custom? Will I ever get back to a point where I can actually update my device without getting that error message in my previous post?

I'd say 7 hours is about right. 8 and over with heavy tweaking most likely. Then the question becomes why have a beast like this only to not use it... Like not using the beautiful screen brightness and with lean kernel I'm overclocked to 2.7Ghz but I only use it when I'm gaming. Normal it's down to 1.6. Limited core usage. Also -25 under voltage but that won't save that much battery. At work I'm only using GSM because I don't get anything better and there's no Wifi.

It's hard to strike a good balance.

If you running cwm, chances very good that knox trip. Boot into download mode and check if knox shows 0x1.

You can go back stock, just have to manually update when new rom versions comes out.

Stock kernel with greenify and still have 20% battery life left. Found an official snapdragon battery saver today, giving it a bash. Suppose it will only work on the n9005 which has the snapdragon processor in.

How the hell you do that with stock X-Note Kernel?!

If you on x-note, get rid of com.sec.android.sviewcover as it cause heavy battery usages, specially if you dont use and s-cover. Greenify almost all apps, except the ones i need that pushes updates like whatsapp or hangouts.

Almost forgot to mention, power safe mode is disabled as well.

Also keep in mind i did a boost on battery for about 10 mins via wall charger. Will do a test tomorrow without boost and give proper details on battey live.

Knox tripped... you can play with root and custom roms now :) that's where the fun starts and you can get rid of samsung aps you dont use at all. Also custom roms give better battery life in my opinion.

ughhhh!!!!!

Anyway, now that that's fscked up...no point in going back to stock.

I had X-Note v16 and what I hate about that rom is that it comes with a lot of shst that I really don't have time for. Like GL this, and GEL that and all these other things that don't add value to my life.

Is the latest version of X-Note also filled with a lot of rubbish?

I'm on v17 and it's possible to kill/disable/uninstall all the bloat that you don't want. I use an S-View cover sometimes and I haven't noticed extra battery drain. When I use it again I will monitor it closely but I hate the flappy nonsense. Only use it at functions/occasions etc. Can't believe people pay like R600 for that sh*t.

Yes it does but you can get rid of the apps you dont want. Most of the extra apps is there to control the look and feel of the rom. Sometimes even the performance.

The issues is on v18 with sview causing battery drain. V17 wasnt doesnt have the bug.

Just an update on my battery usage, 51% left, 7 and half hours on battey with abou 2 hours and 15 screen on time.

w1tw0lf, shiverz and Fanie.

Thanks. I am running v18 now. You guys now have a ghetto pass.
