Maybe check if you can find settings about keeping the screen on when plugged into a dock, maybe that's the culprit.

Have you fiddled with the Developer Options? Go to Settings/Developer Options and make sure Stay Awake isn't checked on.

Could not even find Developer Option until a Google search. Apparently hidden on Kitkat, and still is on my phone.

Sounds more like a little bug that crept in while flashing the 1st time around. Reflashing a wouldnt necessary change a setting unless you wiped before flashing.

Not sure how I feel about Material Design. I liked Holo and now love KitKat's white on black. Especially with an AMOLED display. But that card stack recents screen is to die for...

I like material. Its something new. And they are trying to bring the same look and feel to multiple platforms with it. Much tougher than if you only have 1 or 2 devices.
