No phone in this country is network locked. It's against SA laws.

Hi, sorry. I should have said an unbranded phone. If I'm not mistaken, each network tweaks android before releasing it if it's a branded device?

Thanks for the response.

Has anyone tried out the official Samsung lolipop rom for the N900 (released yesterday in Russia) as yet?

Just checking but if I have the SM-N9005 then I need to wait for the N9005 version right? I'm keen to try

Yup, only released for the N900 so far. You could try the leaked version for the N9005 if you want.

Wow so chuffed that a leaked version exists for the N9005. Just caustics as I have no backup... Has anyone tried the N9005 leaked version?

Same here been running 5.0 for the last month really good lag on a few things but I can don't mine if I'm getting 2 days battery life

What type of lag? General use like navigating or what else?

Can you please direct me to a legit download link?

Can anyone suggest a method or app to back up my phone for the upgrade?

Kies 3, Samsung Smart Switch,

Then also the built-in backup associated with your Google account and your Samsung Account.

On top of that, SMS BACKUP+ for call log, sms and WhatsApp.

In contacts, change display to only view contacts on device and then others not associated with Google or Samsung. Export those to a CSV file on your SD Card.

You can also use ES File Explorer to move files to your SD Card before the upgrade.

Upgraded my N9005 to 5.0! No problems! Runs and looks great!

Used Helium to backup my apps.

Followed instructions on XDA, if anyone is keen to do it.
