The only problem that I am having now is that I can't seem to root my phone properly.

Have you upgraded to CM12.1 on temasek? its v9.5 i believe
Nope not yet. Will wait a bit longer cos I want the bugs squashed, features added and Xposed and my themes to work with it properly first. I'm a blackout app freak so...

I feel you there. 9.4 is stable enough as it is so no need to *experiment*

Does anyone know how to fix my battery life? I am running Lollipop 5.0 (Russian) firmware.

When I installed the software, I wiped my phone. I disabled almost every app I could. This includes Google + and the Google Search App. I don't have location services activated, no sensors of motions are activated. Power saving mode is always on. A few weeks ago I wiped the phone again, this time only installing the necessary applications. Nothing made a difference. The battery drops about 10-20% during the night.

I know low signal can affect battery life, but can it reduce it as greatly as mine?

Try the Poland ROM. My battery life is good. (25% after 2 days with 2h38 screen on time.) Google Play Services don't even feature on my battery stats.

Looks like a Rom/Google problem. If rebooting hasn't worked try installing again / or a different rom. That' my best guess.

Thanks! I forgot to mention I have the N900 version though. I don't see the Poland ROM for it yet. Will try other countries to see if it makes a difference

Thanks! I think that may be the problem since other people seem to be getting good battery life
