Hi ConnorAnyone with a Note 5 experiencing aggressive Ram management on their Note 5 ? I was considering getting one with my upgrade to use as my work line , but after doing some research Iv noticed that there are alot of complaints with the Note 5 killing apps after having 5 or 6 apps open together which defeats the multi tasking capabilities .
I was in both a Samsung store and a Vodacom store today and tested it myself and it is really bad , both units I tested started killing apps and restarting apps after opening 5 or 6 apps . I checked the Ram use on both devices and Touchwiz seems to really use up a large chunk of Ram . I compared it to the Note 4 which was also on display in both stores and the Note 4 had 1gb less Ram (3gb) and yet even after all apps are closed the Note 4 had more Ram available free than the Note 5 had and this was at both stores .
Anyone here noticed the aggressive Ram issue on the Note 5 ? How bad is it with every day useage ?
I am a heavy user with regards to messaging , e mail and browsing and often have 7 or 8 tabs open in my browser alone and anywhere from 8 to 10 apps open constantly and the last thing I want is for apps to reload etc loosing my place and also increasing data use etc .
Not seeing apps closing. Currently have 40+ open.
Gonna try nowhi all ,
for those interested ,just got a software update 167 mb for Note5 ....(920C )
from Vodacom, installed and will see whats improved /better .
good luck
post note see its build ...AOJ5
update claims /says
1) stability of call improved
2)battery optimisation
3)security of device improved
You and me both. My mother has a S6 and a friend of mine has both a S6 Edge and a Note5, and all of them suck at multitasking vs. My Note 4, which really put me off. Thanks , I suspected as much . A real pity as I do not see the point of having the 4gb of Ram if the Note 4 with 3gb Ram actually handles Multi tasking better .
I was in the Samsung store yesterday again and compared it directly to the Note 4 and my Mate 7 and both the Note 4 and the Mate 7 were able to keep more apps open without having to reload as the Note 5 did and both the Note 4 and Mate 7 have 3gb of Ram vs the 4gb on the Note 5 .
This aggressive Ram management is what has kept me away from the new Samsung devices this year , its a pity because other than that they have some great features and specs ,but for me personally that Ram issue is a deal breaker .
Too bad the phone felt the need to swallow whatever the rest of your point was![]()
