Samsungs are in high demand here, so don't expect major drops in their pricing.

The S6 Edge price dropped from R699 to R599 on MTN packages. Thats the first time a phone's price drop so much so quickly.

I can remember the S5 started at R 449 on SmartPlan 100 at Telkom. There were one price reduction to R399 a month or two before the S5 arrived. Nothing since possibly the weak Rand.

The S6 and S6 Edge price dropped because it was overpriced since day one. You can buy new sealed units online now for R8000+

If I am not mistaken, Samsung issued this price drop, as both S6 variants and Note 4 were given price cuts a month or so ago. But I would not bet on much more drops, at least down here.

Yes, they did. Because they realized that it was way overpriced.

Looks like the Note 5 won't have expandable storage (source). And only a 3000maH battery. With such a powerful CPU, so much RAM and such a high res screen I can't imagine that the battery life will be too good. I wonder if I should just go and get my upgrade for the Note 4. Looks like there's a chance that if there's a dual sim version, it will have expandable storage. Are we ever able to get the dual sim versions of phones on contract?

Seems the newly released Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is basically an enlarged S6, with added S-pen.

"to compensate for the removable battery, Samsung have equipped the Note 5 and Edge 6+ with Fast Charge and Wireless Charging."

Well....I am very disappointed - half the world have been asking them to keep the external SD card and removable battery, but no, Samsung is not listening to customers. It's been good dealing with you Samsung, but I will look at moving to the Huawei P8MAX - bigger display, dual SIM cards, removeable battery and external SD card - everything I wanted in this new Note 5 but not one of them was included. I don't think the P8MAX is coming to S.Africa, so I will have to get one on my next overseas trip next month.

What now sets the Note 5 apart from the S6 ? only a stupid S-pen which I never use. These two models are now almost identical. Thought they would set the Note 5 apart from the S6 by at least keeping the SD card and removable battery.....sigh..

Having had the Note 3 and then the Note 4, I really don't think I'll be upgrading to the Note 5.

Top end specs to be sure, but not much of an improvement on the Note 4. And a smaller battery in a world where batteries are touching on 5000mah these days.

No expandable storage. And no dual SIM (though that was always unlikely).

Huawei Mate 7 for me at this stage. If anything.

Well I'm sure if we don't support them they'll realise that they made a mistake. Looks like I'm going to get a note 4. Anyone got any ideas when we'll get the note 5 on contract?
