No thanks.

Also, I see the UK won't be getting the Note 5 this year... I wonder if SA will then get it this year?

Meh...

I'll happily get a 128GB MicroSDXC and a new slim case for my Note 4 and keep using it for next year, its almost a year old and nothing, not even the Note 5, completely match it.

What a disappointment the Note 5 is. I am so put off Samsung :(
If the Note 6 is the same, I am going iPhone as I get the feeling more Android OEMs will be doing this.

Looking at Samsung SA and Samsung Mobile SA's Twitter Accounts, and I do not see them mentioning whether or not the Note 5 is coming to SA. What I do see is them saying availability will be revealed soon. It seems they are not sure and still need to get final word from S.Korea. All I am seeing on the Twitter page of Samsung Mobile SA is promotion of the S6 Edge+, no pic of the Note 5, but multiple pics of the Edge+.

The S6 Edge+ is definitely going to be available, it seems this is what will replace the Note range in future. Samsung's ZA web page only has the S6 Edge+ on it, not a single sign of the Note 5.

Well, looking at what they have unveiled today, I don't know why they didn't just drop the Note line. The S6 EDGE+ and Note 5 are almost identical phones now, except for the stylus. The Note line was always for the power user, and had lots of practical features. Now the Note 5 has transformed into a pretty/bling iPhone wannabe with no latitude to allow the user the freedom to change batteries and use multiple SD cards. And a smaller battery than the Note 4....all sealed up in the case ? So I guess they are going to have to sacrifice software features in order to allow the battery to last a day.
The Note 4 is a better phone than the Note 5, hands down.

+1

Couldn't have said it better!

This is why I have put my Note 4 back in a slim case. Looks like I'll be holding on to it for a long time. ;)

I think the Note 5 looks awesome. Sure, the lack of removable battery and external storage is a shame, but all phones have head that way.

Personally, I'd rather have two OnePlus 2's than a Note 5 though.

Question. How is this then better than the Androids? Sure, storage and battery is then on par with apple, but I don't see how switching to an iPhone is helping your case...

Took out a Note 4 contract with Telkom mobile during the week even though I knew the Note 5 launch wasn't far away, don't think I made the wrong decision. This new design is way too "posh" for me, plus no expandable storage as well as closed back cover? Oh hell nah!

I semi-predicted that my next phone wouldn't be a Samsung, but a part of me was holding out for the Note 5. Now I can say with absolute certainty that it will not be a Samsung. I can't understand why they would loose the external storage option and then go and discontinue the 128gb option. They are matching Apple where they were always bettering Apple in most regards.

Will have to see what LG and Huawei is going to do with the new Nexus - otherwise I'll just stick to my Note 3 until something worthwhile comes up.

The note 4 seems like a good phone to go for if you still want Samsung

My OnePlus One has no expandable storage and doesn't have a removable battery. It's not something I've ever cared about. Battery life is exceptional with the 3100mAh battery and 64GB is plenty of storage space.

Don't really feel like "rewarding" Samsung by spending my money on one of their previous generation phones because their "innovation" left their product not meeting my needs. I'll rather support a different brand for a change. I think a lot of people have been looking for an alternative since the launch of the S6 - the Note5 was in a way a chance for Samsung to redeem themselves and get some of those fans back, but unfortunately it is just more of the same.
I predict that sales of 2015's Samsung flagships will be the worst for the last four years.

I really think the note 4 is an awesome phone. Can't find another phone with a great screen and battery. I won't cut my nose of to spite my face. The p8max is a good alternative but it's too big. Love amoled screens as well.

If Samsung tell us that the reason for not providing an SD card slot, is because the world is moving to "cloud storage" (what Apple want), then Samsung have lost me for good. Living in SA where the cost of mobile data is so high.....who can afford to upload/download 40 or 50 GB of videos and pictures to some cloud ? Besides, I prefer to have my data safely tucked away on a removable SD card rather than on some remote server in the cloud.
But, I think they may have already lost me as a customer after this last model update. I am ready to upgrade my Note 3, but will certainly not upgrade (downgrade) to a crippled Note 5.

Think the note 5 was a huge disappointment to a lot of people. I wanted 64gb storage note then won't need a sd card. Also a bigger battery. Everything else was minor to me and that didn't deliver for me on any front . Note range as always the biggest and best and now it's just bleh
