You are delusional.

And how is posting news stories over exaggerating "anything and everything"?

As said, you are delusional...
So seeing the glass half full is delusional now!? Lol! Wow.

Even the articles speak about Samsung have a solid fall back, its you who has been pushing your own agenda in this thread the whole time.

You never did answer my Q WRT buying a Samsung or Android, are you even remotely interested or just come here to push the whole Samsung and Android Hate that the rest of the forum got over long ago?

The story is about the Note 7 specifically and Samsung Mobile in general, they have basically wiped out their entire profits for Q3 2016, that is the story, not that Samsung Semi Conductors are having to bail out Samsung Mobile in the profits made by Samsung Group, if Samsung Mobile had made their 4.6bn profit it would mean Samsung Group's profits would have been 4.6bn better.

How hard is that to understand?

I don't usually humour the dense of mind, but will make an exception, I use a Samsung Galaxy on a daily basis and have had every Galaxy model from the original to the s6 and every Note from the original to the Note 4...

Now, take your delusional head and give it a good hard shake

"Moorhead said the untimely demise of the Note 7 would not hinder Samsung's holiday season sales because it contributed only a small percentage of overall volume. "I think what people forget is just how small of a percent [the Note 7 sales] is and that's why we are not going to see the big hit in the fourth quarter," he said.
The majority of Samsung's handset sales come from its flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 edge handsets, as well as from its mid-tier Galaxy A and J series."

Not as gloomy as you'd like it to be, sorry bud.

The disaster happened, they took a hit, they still have products showing solid sales, they still turned a profit and they have a way forward.

He hit the nail on the head here and explains exactly what I'm saying:
"The latest numbers showed Samsung was not "a one-trick pony", Patrick Moorhead, president and principal analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, told CNBC's "Squawk Box."
"They are a major portfolio player not only in smartphones but also across components and displays [and] that is exactly what we're seeing today," he said."

Yes, the mobile division took a huge loss, they knew it was going to happen and they made it clear it would, but they had a way forward and still have a great product line-up.

No need to insult me, we are two grown adults, are you not able to handle a little discussion without having a tantrum and insulting others?

The value on other phones also seems to drop faster. It's like the Samsung is the Mercedes of the phone world, (good resale value) whereas the LG is a Hyundai.
Yeah, in Android Samsungs do hold their value better than others.

Outside Android, iPhones tend to hold their value best, even iPads don't hold their value as well as iPhones do.

Having just gone Samsung S5 --> Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, I am brand converted. I will never buy a Samsung again. The only downgrade is the camera. If Xiaomi have a decent shooter in the Note 2, then it will be a winner at a bargain price. No S-Pen though (many a Note user sees this as a deal breaker)
S5 was pretty terrible. Comparing it to a Note 7 or S7 edge is like chalk and cheese. I was also off Samsung for years but they really did step up over the last year or two.

I never compared the S5 to S7 or Note 7. I compared it to the mid range Xiaomi where the Xiaomi kills the S5. S5 was an improvement on the S4 I had and sales figures confirm that both S4 and S5 were market leaders in their category at the time.

My point was to say that Xiaomi make insanely good devices at even better pricing.

I am comparing them. You said you would never purchase a Samsung again based on your experience with the worst of the Samsungs. My point is that if your last device was a better Samsung like a s7 edge your opinion would probably differ somewhat.

I have no qualms with Xiaomi. They seem like incredible value.

Never owned a Xiaomi, but had all the Samsung S range and an LG G3, and in my opinion the S7 Edge is the best phone I have owned yet. Of course, I would have preferred a Note 7...

I guess it's gonna come down to brand loyalty. Secondly, what sort of customer service is being provided by Xiaomi.

And least important how does one pronounce Xiaomi

The current iphone pricing is making me lean towards the cheaper s7 edge right now.

Agreed. Although I have only started to like Samsung recently since TouchWiz has been slimmed down and they have got rid of the plastic. I've had pretty much every brand incl the Chinese ones.

S7 edge is still the best phone out IMO.

I am saying I won't spend Samsung money on a phone. For half the launch price of a S7 Edge, one could buy a Xiaomi Mi5 which has similiar spec, minus the Edge screen. I'm for disposable phones. Pay less, use and flog for a newer model. I'm the minority, but it makes financial sense to me.

Xiaomi already have a phone out with an Edge display so only a matter of time until that filters down to the Redmi Note range. I used the money I saved on the Redmi Note 2 to buy a tablet as a backup device.

Similar spec on paper maybe but when you are used to 'premium' (hate the word) phones the downgrade is noticable. I tried a p9 lite and although it represents fantastic value I changed to a s7 edge in a few days.

Things like camera and screen quality are simply miles apart no matter how similar they look on paper. So I suppose it depends how important these features are to you. I simply couldn't stand having a sub par camera.

An area other phone manufacturers are truly struggling to beat Samsung in is Display quality, my 2yrld Note 4's display does a much better job than e.g. iPhone 7 Plus, LG G5, Xperia Z5 Premium (haven't yet tried the XZ) and Huawei Mate 8.

The Note 4 got me into a bad habit of watching some series like 'The 100' and Narcos on its display, I've now stopped doing that, but it was difficult to stop as the display has that 'wow factor' , I have it in AMOLED Cinema as I love the incredibly vivid colours and high contrast.
