I flashed the Note 7 Rom on my Note 5. That's the closest I'll get to a Note 7.

A quick thought...alot of people in usa etc still have there note 7 devices and using. Alot until they recieve instructions froms carriers other ls because they can and want too.

The point.... Has anyone else heard of any further notes burning out.... No

Very very strange. Mayb Samsung did recall and end the note too soon

The OTA software update went out reducing the maximum charge amount to 70%, that's why.

Alot of the guys haven't done the Ota and they are running perfect. Was reading on android central how they blocked it via package disabler.
It's also only a small amount that caught fire, but still enough to get together and form a class action lawsuit and sue Samsung's socks off. Now they have recalled everything, the Note 7 keepers can't sue.

I don't get it, despite a huge PR disaster like the Note7 they made a Profit, they didn't break-even, they didn't make a measly $1000, they made $4.6bn, and their other products are still showing solid sales despite an awfully handled debacle, people are still happy to buy their products in mass, how is that ouch? Are they tapping into cash reserves and filing bankruptcy?

I must be missing something here.

We've seen much worse with a much MUCH smaller misstep

Yep you really are missing something if you think that the Note 7 hasn't been a cataclysmic failure for Samsung, ouch was downplaying the issue tenfold...

To put it in perspective:

What should’ve been a bonanza turned into famine, as Samsung’s mobile division struggled to contain the fallout caused by the Note 7 cancellation. Samsung barely avoided recording a loss in its IT & Mobile unit, posting 100 billion won ($87 million) in operating profit.

That seems like a lot of money, until you look at the same figure in previous quarters. Samsung Mobile made 4.32 trillion won in Q2 and 3.89 trillion won in Q1. Year on year, Q3 brought a 95% drop.

The Mobile division profits were basically wiped out, as in a 95% profit drop!

Please don't say have anything to do with finance in your day job...

Again, $4.6bn in profit despite such a disaster is incredible, it shows that the strategy Samsung chose to dabble in multiple areas of tech is now showing its benefits, no matter what, the business is making money DESPITE a key division losing a whole lot.

A disaster like this would sink other Phone Manufacturers (Huawei may be an exception).

I'm looking at this from an overall business perspective, as many would. Its never about the crisis but how they can get over it and move forward, their older 2016 products are showing strong sales, they are issuing updates with some Note 7 features to them, so there we go and then we have the S8 to look forward to even if it arrives after March.

Many companies have divisions that are held up by others, even Alphabet has divisions that squander money yearly, but the overall business continues to turn a healthy profit.

Look man, I understand your only purpose here is to over exaggerate anything and everything that happens to Samsung, but unfortunately its not the doom and gloom you want it to be. Are you even remotely interested in Samsung or Android at all?

Just imagine the huge profit they would of made if the note 7 was out there in the world selling

From reports of people that had the device its sammys best device to date.... It can only get better with the s8 range and note 8.

I can't wait for 2017 to see these new devices

There is no other device out there thay vaguely intrests me... Not a huawei fan and Lg well after the disappointing lg 4 bootloop issue and the g5 failure I will stay away

The value on other phones also seems to drop faster. It's like the Samsung is the Mercedes of the phone world, (good resale value) whereas the LG is a Hyundai.

The only thing that made the Note 7 better than the S7edge.... is the S Pen... but yeah, can't really say "the best phone ever" when it gets recalled. S7edge ftw.

You are delusional.

And how is posting news stories over exaggerating "anything and everything"?

As said, you are delusional...
