Samsung Galaxy Pocket

My 12-year old son cannot receive phone calls or sms - says 'the user you have dialed...' - he can receive whatsapp and bbm over wifi. I know it should be a setting that prevents him from being 'disturbed' like 'Do not disturb' or 'Airplane' mode - but for the life of me I cannot find a setting to change this.

When I load R100 airtime and he tries to make a call, the USSD for Vodacom says straight away that he doesn't have any airtime.

I have tried to register his number on My Vodacom, but his phone doesn't even receive the OTP sms.

Any clues?

Sounds like a problem with the sim. Vodacom has the habit of disabling the sim if it's not used regularly - happened to my missus. Try putting another sim in (they cost 50c at Clicks).
 
My wife uses a Pocket, I got it after her old Nokia slider died, and she insisted on a small phone. This is an attempt to get her used to a Smartphone. so far so good, she's been using it now for about 6 months and she's OK with it. I installed Swiftkey for her and bought her a small stylus because she was struggling with the keyboard, and now she says it's easier. The main annoyance is the stupid screen lock when you're in a call, and I spent quite a few hours and countless searches for a solution with no success.
