Samsung Galaxy S Android-powered smartphone launched

According to this article on Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/08/apple-ipad-and-samsung-wave-share-a-brain/) the Galaxy S uses the same CPU that is in the iPad/iPhone 4. I suspect this phone will be almost as capable (more so in certain respects and according to your opinion) and a lot cheaper than the iPhone as well.

I'm looking forward to upgrade time again. My Nokia 5800xm is looking incredibly dated. In fact, I don't believe Nokia's S^3 devices (like the soon to be released N8) will be good enough to even catch up.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the Galaxy S for some time now on GSM Arena and I’m very excited about the device. One of the the first things that caught my attention was the Super AMOLED screen which has an awesome contrast ratio and it’s even usable under direct sunlight. Another great thing about the device is the ARM Cortex A8 1GHz CPU with the SGX540 GPU which is about twice as fast as the one in the Motorola Milestone and Shadow.

There are rumours about a Galaxy S Pro which will come with a full QWERTY keyboard, the one I’m actually waiting for. ;)

thanks for the link, especially as the article said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THE PHONE. In fact, the article basically said nothing.
RPM, sort out your staff writers please. At least a coupla sentences summarising the specs would've been very useful.

I also want to see some specifications in an article like this. This is NOT an article, but a (probably) paid advertisement.

Anyone know which carriers will be selling the phone here in SA? Any rumours as to when they will start shipping with Android 2.2, or release an update? Price indications?
