Samsung Galaxy S SD Card Error

Hi

I got a Samsung Galaxy S (The first one) on Thursday and loaded everything up, all seemed fine. On Friday morning I saw an error message on my phone:

Data encryption
Unable to use SD card without data encryption

So I tried to un-mount and format etc. yesterday morning. This seemed to work, it said there was 7.40 GB available. This morning I had the same error message as above.

I have 7 days to return my phone if this is an OBF but I don't know if the SD card is part of the failure/return policy. Or is there something I have missed with the format/encryption on the SD card that I should try?

Any Samsung Galaxy S owners out there with any suggestions?

Thanks so much in advance

Wow, I'd really like to thank all you MyBroadband Members for your overwhelming response. :)

Am I the only Samsung Galaxy S owner that has had this problem? That is crazy, I guess I will return it tomorrow

I also have the same phone. Got it only yesterday.

Tried a different SD card?

Just a note - I suspect that the 8Gb SD card I got with my phone might be wonky as two photos was ruined. And there is lots of other "funnies". (I set the camera to use external SD storage for the photos).

I strongly suspect the SD card & will replace it with a good, working 2Gb SD card & see if the error(s)/problems goes away.

No i haven't yet. I wanted to get a new handset within the 7 day period but now I'm also thinking I should leave it. It really is an awesome phone. Did you get the same errors I did? Please post back here if you get a resolution. Enjoy your new phone

On mine photos got corrupted.

I'll try a smaller SD card and see if the problem(s) persists. Might be that the phone cannot handle 8Gb SD cards safely.

I had an S1 many moons ago :p

it did this after about a year though, was the SD card in the end, got a 16gb one for it and it was ok :) Mom's HTC memory card did the same :)

and ya, saying it might not be capable of such a "big" sd card.. lol. It comes standard with an 8gb.
